The Hustle Season Kickoff took place from Saturday, March 27th through Sunday, March 28th, and featured 45 programs ranging from 15 to 17U. Several local players got their circuit season off to a great start. In this article a follow-up to our Local Standouts Part 1, we breakdown the performances of some local standouts.
Jimar Mitchell Jimar Mitchell 5'11" | SG Rancho | 2022 State NV 5’11 PG Hard Work Dedication 2022 (#35PHN 2022) – Good weekend for Mitchell, as he was the standout for Hard to guard. He scored well in transition, finishing around the rim. He had a game-high 20 in a victory over Rancho Elite.
Jayven Jones Jayven Jones 6'1" | SG Centennial | 2022 State NV 6’0 CG West Coast United 2022 (#56PHN 2022) – Impressive showing for the bully. Jones was deadly when attacking the rim. He has a solid frame and is just too quick and agile to handle when he’s playing downhill. He had a big 24 point game and was the top performer for West Coast United.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#7PHN 2024) – Quiet but effective weekend for Adem. Chosen few was dominant so he didn’t always have to score, however, he left no doubt that he was the engine propelling CF. Adem ran the show and distributed to teammates. Behind his playmaking, Chosen Few was one of the highest-scoring teams of the weekend, including a 109 point performance in their last game.
Jordon Cosby Jordon Cosby 5'9" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 5’11 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#29PHN 2024) – Cosby was one of the top 3 and D guys from the event. He shot it well from behind the arc, finishing with 7 3’s in one game. He was also a willing defender, that sat in a stance when on ball and was active and aggressive when playing passing lanes.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 PG Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#2PHN 2022) (featured image) – I’ll be honest, I didn’t think Jackson was at his best this weekend, however that just goes to show how far he’s come, and how expectations have changed. He played well, helping H2G to a 3-1 weekend. He was unstoppable in spots, proving that he can get to the rim whenever he wants.
