Here’s a rundown of prospects that played well and might fit the guard position at a later time. This group of 2023’s are still developing their skills, and could turn into quality guard prospects point guard, or combo. They had a good showing at this event.
Antoine aj Robinson 5’8 Point Guard, Two One Elite, Marina HS, CA.
We got the feeling that Robinson could go get a bucket anytime he wanted to, holding true to his point guard responsibilities, he ran the team with patience, and efficiency. His slick handles, and willingness to facilitate was notable. Playing on a team with a strong inside game, and players who can hit 3’s, all Robinson had to do was set the offense, pace, and deliver timely passes to the right players. He did that. He has quick hands, and lateral movement to harass other points guards full court.
Ben Jenkins 6’0 NBBA 16U, Tamalpais.
Jenkins is a spark, whether starting or coming off the bench. He brings a fast pace game to the court, and he’s always in push mode. He delivers solid crisp passes up the court or will go all the way on the dribble if you don’t cut him off. He has a strong attack from various angles, getting into the paint for jumpers was notable. He’ll get after you on the defensive end.
Zion Watt 6’1 Guard, Two One Elite. Crossroads School for Arts & Science.
It wasn’t easy getting a read on Watt, and what he could do. It was our first time seeing this prospect. He’s a player to keep an eye on. He has a calm, and confident approach as a player. He has a scorers mentality, but it’s still in the early stages. He has a smooth shot from 3, and he finds ways to get a bucket. Watt had good shot selection. He was on a team that went 4-0 Two One Elite. He’s long armed, and moves wells.
Zuri Banks 6’0 Guard, West Coast Select 2023. Bishop Gorman HS.
Banks is an up and coming prospect with an improving skill set. Being in the class of 2023 with continued development this young prospect will raise his game to a higher level. He has a solid body to handle the physical parts of the game, and he gives good effort on both ends of the court. His handles were okay, he has a good mid-range jumper, and he’s a willing defender.
Desean Moreno Desean Moreno 6'4" | PF Spring Valley | 2022 State NV 6’3 Forward, Chosen Few 2023. Spring Valley HS, Nevada.
Moreno is an athletic prospect playing forward at 16U. At 6’3 he was active, and aggressive defending bigger, and taller players in the post area. He held his own. He has bounce, and good reactions going after rebounds. He has good speed getting out, and filling the lanes in transition. He can guard multiple positions. With continued skill development, he has a good upside. c/o 2022.
