First Team
Trey Griggs PG – Sal Elite 2024; Morton Junior High School (NE)
Trey is a polished 2025 guard playing up, and for obvious reasons. He comfortably knocked down a wide range of shots all weekend. Spot ups, stepbacks, midrange pull-ups, he showed the whole offensive package. Defensively, he racked up deflections, blew up ball screens, and contained the drive.
Jagger Cornell SG – Columbia Supreme 2024; Harrisburg HS (MO)
One of the best off-ball options in Council Bluffs this past weekend was Jagger. His length, paired with a very smooth jumpshot made him a dangerous threat on the wing. He can, and will bomb it from deep, but if the defense closes out hard, he can take his man off the dribble and make the next play. Very active rebounder too, securing himself some easy putback points.
Isaiah Bonaparte SF – Columbia Supreme 2024; Hickman HS (MO)
Bonaparte created advantages with his shifty ball-handling, and has the finishing versatility to capitalize from all locations on the court. He mixed in some off-footed finishes and scoop shots to confuse shot blockers, and when the ball was swung to him on the wing, he reliably knocked down his spot-up attempts.
Joe Ascher SF – Running Rebels 2024; Wautoma HS (WI)
Ascher was as reliable and in control as any player I watched at the event. He was a major reason the Running Rebels 2024 squad went 4-0 on the weekend. Patient and steady with the ball, it is very difficult to speed him up or slow him down. He passes well, cuts hard without the basketball, and finds a job to do regardless of whether he’s directly involved in the action or not.
Braydon Osborn F – Iowa Prep 2024 Red; Alburnett HS (IA)
Footwork and angles fuel Osborn’s game. He does work early to secure positioning, and this is not limited to the post area. He stretches the floor, and can use the dribble to get two feet in the lane and score. I was most impressed with his ability to drive the ball and jumpstop into a floater or jumper.
Second Team
Anthony Nunda PG – Missouri Flight 2024; Parkview HS (MO)
A guard with nice passing feel, he proved to be a great ball-handler in pick and roll. He made some very clever plays on defense too which required awareness and anticipation.
Nehemiah Hamilton PG – Columbia Supreme 2024; Capital City HS (MO)
Hamilton put intense pressure on the rim on both days of the event. A good athlete who can cause the first defensive breakdown consistently.
Devin Holman SF – Sal Elite 2024; Omaha South HS (NE)
Holman showed ability and confidence to fire and make from deep. Several of his shots came well behind the line, punishing any defense which sat back to protect the drive.
John James SF – Columbia Supreme 2024; Capital City HS (MO)
Maybe the best pure athlete from the 15U teams in Council Bluffs was John James. One of the most exciting moments of the day was when he rotated from the weakside and pinned a layup attempt against the glass with both hands.
Nolan Hall SF – Running Rebels 2024; Kaukauna HS (WI)
At 6’4″, Hall provided matchup issues in each game. He can handle it very well, and can bully his way into the lane when the handle doesn’t create enough separation. Hall protected the paint very well when he found himself in those situations.
