Bryson Dawkins (Alabama Celtics 17U)
Dawkins was the talk of the event with his play for the Alabama Celtics! Elite level athlete at 6’3” that plays above the rim. He made his mark with his silky-smooth handles getting in the lane where he finished with acrobatics. Best play was when his teammate threw an alley-oop off the backboard to him over a defender in traffic for a slam. The lefty is more than just a slasher and high riser as he was solid shooting it from three as well with a clean looking shooting stroke. Like his potential on the defensive end as well with his timing and physical tools. Primed to breakout as a major D1 target in the southeast this spring and summer!
Luke Northweather (Mid-Mo Elite 17U)
What a show Northweather put on in Louisville! The 6’9” five man from Missouri was outstanding using his size and skill to dominate on the interior. The rising senior has an excellent feel for scoring on the block with seals, spins, and power moves. Soft touch around the hoop. Finished well through contact and was very physical in the paint. Like how deep of a position he consistently got on the catch. Rebounded at a high rate in his area and on the defensive end was a force swatting shots all weekend whether it was other guards or opposing post players. Low-major and mid-major programs should definitely be on this five man.
Dajuan Bates (RISE 17U)
Bates made a statement on Saturday for RISE. The wiry point guard from De La Salle in Chicago plays with a ton of energy which translates over to the rest of the team. He is a plus shooter that knocked them down with consistency from beyond the arc drilling pull up triples at a high clip. Uses his handles to set up his shot being able to get it off over his defender. Speed in the open floor and has a burst with the rock in his hands blowing past opponents getting to the cup for layups or floaters. Also brings it defensively with his quick hands and lateral footspeed.
Justin Becker (Griffin Elite 17U)
Becker was the key to a Griffin Elite Quattrocchi team that went 4-0 on the weekend. He is a 6’6” four man with good strength and an all-around skilled game. The forward exemplifies what that team is all about. Being multi positional contributing across the board doing a little bit of everything. Plus passer that made great reads in the half court. Can handle it from the mid-post area off the bounce getting to the rim. Solid area rebounder as well.
Jerome Brewer (NEBC 17U)
Brewer is a 6’8” power forward that will be attending prep school next season at Taylor Made Prep in Arizona. The NEBC power forward was a scoring machine all weekend positing 25+ point outings on a regular basis. He has a strong frame along with nice mobility. Face up game was on point as he was effective taking his opposing big man from the high-post area winning off the bounce with powerful drives and spin moves. Excellent isolation player that can score putting it on the deck and using strong moves on the block finishing well through contact. Plus rebounder that crashes the offensive glass with strength snatching rebounds in traffic.
