One Player To Watch: Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA
Walker is easily one of the best players in the state, and he has the 11 Division 1 scholarship offers, including one from Purdue, to show for it. He is incredibly shifty with the ball in his hands, and he knows where to go with the ball at all times. He takes it strong to the hole, dishes to the open man, or finishes over the bigger defenders. Walker does struggle shooting the ball from the outside at times, but he has the raw talent to make plays all over the court. He is going to be a fun player to watch.
One Player We Need To See More: Dayveon Turner Dayveon Turner 5'11" | PG Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN
Turner is a smaller guard who has grown a couple of inches in the past year which has helped him quite a bit. He is still a long, lanky guard who can score the ball consistently, but he hasn’t really shown us his ability to get others involved in the game. With the talent overload on this ball club, that is something that he could showcase in a major way over the summer. Dayveon has a ton of upside in his game, and this summer may be his best chance to show us what he can really do.
One Player That Should Surprise: Caedmon Bontrager Caedmon Bontrager 6'8" | PF Leo | 2022 State IN
Bontrager transferred from Lakeland Christian to Elevation Prep during the last high school season, and this led him to play much more difficult schedule of games. This increase in the level of competition should help him in a major way as he continues into the Grassroots season this spring and summer. At 6’7, Bontrager has the size and the footwork to dominate inside around the rim while also knocking down shots from the outside at a consistent rate. Bontrager holds offers from Huntington and Grace right now, and I would expect him to receive quite a few more in the months to come.
