One Player To Watch: Nick Thompson Nick Thompson 6'2" | SG Bishop Luers | 2023 State IN
Nick is a bigger guard whose upside continues to grow every single day. In addition to his size, his high-level handles give him the ability to play basketball at the next level. He is the type of guy who doesn’t make mistakes and always looks to keep his teammates involved in the game. He can also knock down shots, and his playmaking ability has continued to improve. His upside is there, and I really believe that this summer could be the time for him to show everybody how good of a player he has the potential to be.
One Player We Need To See More: Josh Furst Josh Furst 6'6" | C Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN
Sticking with the theme of younger brothers of D1 talents, Furst is one that we haven’t really gotten to see his full potential. In high school ball, he has played behind his older brother, and the shortened AAU season did not help him. Thus, we need to see him more and this summer will give us that opportunity. I expect Furst to improve going into his junior year at Blackhawk in which he will be one of the go-to players.
One Player That Should Surprise: Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN
Kaopuiki hasn’t shown us much during the high school season, but he had a very good AAU season last year. I expect him to get back on track and surprise some people with his success. He is a bigger guard who uses his physicality and toughness to make plays around the rim. He is also the type of player who is going to outwork his opponents and never stop hustling. Because of this, I expect him to have a very good summer season this year.
