Several young players who contributed to their high school teams this year are looking to plant themselves firmly on the radar of college coaches this spring. In this article, we take a look at some potential Spring Stockrisers.
Tylen Riley Tylen Riley 6'2" | CG Durango | 2023 State NV 6’1 CG Durango 2023 (#13PHN 2023) – Riley’s physical tools are impressive. His long, quick and fast. He’s best when he’s playing a combo position, but he’s going to get some terrific experience this summer playing the 1. If he can show the ability to make the players around him better on the offensive end, he will instantly raise his stock.
Leyton Barr Leyton Barr 5'10" | SG Faith Lutheran | 2023 State NV 6’0 PG Faith Lutheran 2023 (#22PHN 2023) – Reality is shooters, are valuable. Barr definitely can do that. After speaking with LV Knicks Director, it seems clear that he has a plan for Barr which includes allowing him to play to his strength. Expect the 6’0 sharpshooter to space the floor this summer on the Gauntlet. If he shoots it with his usual consistency, college coaches will start taking notes.
Kason Janes 6’4 SF Kanab 2023 – Janes put together a monster season. The 6’4 wing averaged nearly 18per game for Kanab, and now is ready to make a name for himself. The Utah talent will be competing for the Las Vegas Addidas sponsored club the Knicks, giving him a terrific platform to showcase his scoring talent.
Gavin Douglas Gavin Douglas 6'7" | SF Boulder City | 2022 State NV 6’7 SF Boulder City 2023 (#46PHN 2022) – There are a ton of people waiting for Douglas’ breakout. After transferring from Reno two years ago, he played for 3A power Boulder City, before being forced to miss his junior year because of the Pandemic. The 6’7 wing has a ton of skills, good size, and a winning attitude, it will not be a surprise to see him mentioned as one of the Summer’s breakout performers when it’s all said and done.
Colson Madruga Colson Madruga 6'5" | PF Lake Mead Christian Academy | 2022 NV 6’6 PF Dixie 2022 (featured image) – Originally from Las Vegas, Madruga spent his Junior season in Utah competing at Dixie. The rugged forward is a good rebounder and can score off putbacks. He also provides quality low post defense. For teams looking for depth in the frontcourt, Madruga would be a terrific option.
