With around 42 basketball players in attendance we got to see guys participate in a combine like atmosphere, individual skill work, shell drill, and playing up and down 5 on 5. This is Part 2 of the series.
Elijah Corner Elijah Corner 6'5" | SF Ruskin | 2021 State MO , 6’5 Forward, Ruskin: The long and athletic forward continued to prove that description on Saturday testing really well in the combine activities, was explosive attacking the rim in the individual scoring drills, and made a ton of plays in the live action stuff. When he gets going running the floor he is tough to stop, and he is a dangerous trail player especially if he can catch at the top trailing, rip and attack. He was able to influence some tough shots at the rim and get his hands on a couple of blocks.
Cody Mericle Cody Mericle 6'6" | PF Manhattan Chief | 2021 State KS , 6’5 Forward, Manhattan CHIEF: A sneaky athlete, Mericle was able to showcase his abilities on a wider scale at this event, showing his quick burst off the floor, agility as a cutter, and quick finishes around the rim. He had a great up and under finish after attacking from the elbow. Limited opportunities to showcase his mid range shooting ability but he has that in his game as well. He is a unique forward unsigned prospect in terms of his athleticism and skill set.
Jaishon Jefferson Jaishon Jefferson 6'3" | SG Lincoln Prep | 2021 State MO , 6’3 Wing, Lincoln: Another player who was able to showcase his athletic ability both in the drills and in live action, Jefferson’s burst and side to side quickness jumped out amongst the group. He shot the ball well in the drills and in his game opportunities which was a welcomed sign and should really get schools excited about him. He has all the physical tools to be a versatile player somewhere at the next level. He has a goo demeanor on the floor and plays with a purpose.
Brett Main, 6’1 Guard, Central: A really solid guard who showed his overall game quite well on Saturday. He has good length and size to him, went through the drills with extreme effort and deliberateness which shows well for him. In the competitive stuff, he competed, guarded well in the shell and 5 on 5 situations. He has a solid handle, drive and kick capabilities, and looked like a steady shooter.
Max Black Max Black 6'5" | PF Truman | 2021 State MO , 6’5 Forward, Truman: The highly skilled, high motor forward highlighted those traits all day Saturday, testing well, shooting the ball at a high level in the drills, and offered up his versatility in the live game situations. Black has good size, strength on both ends to rebound well, set screens, and play physical in the paint. His popping ability and transition trail shooting is also a great weapon in his offensive game that helped make him stand out.
