With around 42 basketball players in attendance we got to see guys participate in a combine like atmosphere, individual skill work, shell drill, and playing up and down 5 on 5. We will have multi part series on the unsigned seniors who were in attendance.
Kyren Angelo Kyren Angelo 5'7" | CG Washington | 2021 State KS , 5’5 Point Guard, Washington: Angelo showed off his great burst, change of pace, and floor general ability on Saturday, especially when things got going in the 5 on 5 action. He hit a couple of really nice transition pull up jumpers off the bounce, kicked the ball ahead early to teammates, and got into gaps and created for himself and others. He plays much bigger than his size, and his intangibles from the point guard spot could help make him a really solid point guard somewhere next year.
Jackson Chapman, 6’ Guard, Bishop DuBourg: One of the better shooters in the gym on the day, Chapman showed his prowess from deep in the shooting drills and his ability to have a game getting to the rim attacking closeouts. He shot aroun 50% from 3 on the high school season and you could see that translate in his game Saturday. He has some decent length and athleticism to him, and finding him ways to get open from deep at the next level should go into where he winds up.
EJ Betts, 5’9 Point Guard, Lincoln Prep: Another point guard on the day who showed what he has in his game to lead a back court. His passing ability stood out amongst the group, and his transition game with the ball was some of the best out there. Watching him live in the high school season as well, he brings a lot to the table from the lead guard spot. He is also a really good defender with a knack for getting steals and deflections.
Dane Foster, 6’5 Guard, Smith Cotton High School: Played with some of the most confidence and swagger on the court throughout the day. He has a good energy about him on the floor and a lot of good things happened with him involved in the action in either the shell drill stuff and in the 5 on 5 games. His shot looked really good and confident, and he was good at getting to his spots on the floor where he felt comfortable making plays. Foster also made some good passes to cutters and drop offs, he was one of the more eye popping prospects on the day especially with his length as a guard.
Josh Broxterman Josh Broxterman 6'2" | PF Jefferson West | 2021 State KS , 6’3 Wing, Jefferson West (Pictured): Really showed his strength and athleticism on the day in the measurable drills and in 4 on 4 shell, with a couple of strong finishes and straight line drives that knocked defenders off their marks. Did not shoot the ball from 3 well on the day but he is traditionally a really solid 3 point shooter with good bounce in his shot. He did hit a couple of nice mid range jumpers on the day which is another lethal area in his offensive game.
