Every time a new profile is submitted, we appreciate it because it allows us to add new players to our rankings that we may be missing out on. In this series, we will be diving into profiles that are submitted, checking out some tape and then providing player anlaysis. Let’s take a look at some of Pennsylvania’s newest members below.
Hanif Goins Hanif Goins 6'2" | SG Germantown Friends School | 2022 State PA – 6’2’’ / Junior / Germantown Friends / Shooting Guard: A high flying, fluid athlete with a long wingspan, Goins is an asset at both ends of the court. On the offensive end he can score in close with either hand, fills the lane in transition and shoot the 3-ball. At the defensive end Goins is an extremely valuable player because he can truly guard 1 through 5 and will not hesitate to pick up the other team’s best player full court. Additionally, his length and quick twitch hands allow him to block shots as well as record deflections and/or steals. Goins is an outstanding rebounder with a high basketball IQ who has shown to be a willing passer. During the 2020-21 season Goins was a glue guy who posted 5 ppg.; 5 rpg.; and 2 spg. There is no doubt his best basketball is ahead of him. On the grassroots circuit Goins plays for PA Renegades.
Jacen Holloway – 6’3’’ / Sophomore / Devon Prep / Wing: As a freshman, Holloway was a reserve for the Tide who showed glimpses of a tremendous upside. In 2020-21, the athletic lefty with size had much a bigger role for the most improved squad in the Philadelphia Catholic League and posted a respectable 6.7 ppg. while shooting 50% from three and 60% on FGAs. With his size and ability to play a physical brand of basketball, Holloway can play on the interior. However, don’t sleep on his perimeter game. He owns a respectable jumper and is capable of stepping out to the 3-point line to knock down shots.
Allen Cole – 5’6″ / Freshman / Upper Merion / Point Guard: An undersized backcourt player, Cole has an ability to finish in traffic for an smaller guard that is surprising. His slick handles and sweet hesitation move get him to the rim where he can finish with either hand. Cole’s jumper has range out to the 3-point line. When a defender closes out too quickly, Cole can use a nice head and ball fake to get to his mid-range game or into the lane for floaters. One element of Cole’s game that is evident on tape is that he really pushes the ball down the floor quickly after misses and makes. On defense he is a disruptive ball hawk who can trigger fast breaks with steals.
