16U Prospect’s record 3-1
They took down a good ND Phenom team. The Prospects lone loss came to a well-coached and physical SD Schoolers team. ECI ran out of gas towards the end. They were missing an important BIG, which hurt quite a bit. As a result, they struggled to grab rebounds in clutch situations.
Standout Players
Isaiah Schafer Isaiah Schafer 6'1" | CG Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-1 G| Bismarck Century – He is playing up a level as Isaiah is only a freshman. He excelled at almost everything he did in the tournament. Schafer was able to lock down key players in big games on defense. He shouldered a bulk of the scoring for the Prospects in the tournament.
Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN (2023) |6-7 F| Moorhead – He grabbed a ton of rebounds throughout the weekend. Adam had multiple put-backs for buckets because of his determination and his tracking of the ball. Jenkins is a big/wing that is super athletic. He showed his shooting range while hitting a huge 3-pointer in the closing minutes in the win over ND Phenom. Adam was also a disrupter on defense whiling altering many shots.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-11 G| Fargo Davies – He did an excellent job of running the point and directing traffic. Brown had the ball in his hands a ton. Raymond showed spurts of scoring at will. He is a high-quality player with loads of potential.
16u Selects Hanson record 1-3
They lost some tough games where they were up 15-20 points but could not hold on. They need to find a way to play more together and work the ball more on offense. This team has many skilled players, they just need to start clicking together.
Jay Wanzek Jay Wanzek 6'7" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-5 F| Shiloh Christian – He was a wrecking force around the rim. He was the biggest and strongest player on the court. Jay score at will and altered shots on defense. Wanzek had a very impressive weekend.
Max Froslie Max Froslie 6'8" | PF Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-6 F| Fargo Davies – He shined on the offensive side all weekends. Max was the best player offensively for this team during the Spring Jam. He was drilling triples, knocking down pull-up J’s, and finishing smoothly around the basket. Let us not forget about the big slam dunks.
Cullen Norland (2023) |5-10 G| Fosston (MN) – He flat out got after in this tournament. Cullen has a great IQ and he knows the game well. He is tenacious on defense. He can run the point-guard position smoothly and direct the troops. Cullen might be a little to unselfish at times. The more aggressive he gets, the better it is for this group.
16U Selects Schafer record 4-0
They won the “Red Division” and had a very nice showing. These players really get after it with physical play and excellent team basketball. They are a fun squad to watch. These ECI hoopster’s play with emotion and have been clicking together for day 1.
Calahan Burchill Calahan Burchill 6'3" | SG Valley City | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-3 G| Valley City – He is a super physical wing that is bigger and stronger compared to most players his age. He attacks the rim aggressively. Burchill is a high-flyer that can finish above the rim. He has worked hard in the weight room and it been evident so far.
Gerald Melin (2023) |6-5 G/F| Red Lake County – He is a long guard that has a great stroke. Gerald is a fearless player that is always communicating while on the court. He plays great with help-side defense. Melin can clean up the glass and boards for this ECI team.
Drew Sheeley (2023) |6-0 G| DGF – He is a tough-nosed guard that knows his role and does his job. He can do a little of everything on the court. Drew is a solid all-around guard.
