However, a few players shined brighter than everyone else, whether on the offensive, defensive, or both ends of the floor.
Bo Aldridge (2023), Kansas City United (15U):
Aldridge was the best of the pack by far. Though he’s only a sophomore, his game has very few holes as he makes an impact on both ends of the floor. His length (6-foot-4) and his size (190 pounds) make him hard to guard when going downhill, and his speed makes him a menace on the perimeter as well. Aldridge finished the game in a losing effort with 16 points and 12 rebounds, including a step-back triple to send the game to overtime.
Mack Gudell (2024), Next Level OK (15U):
When looking at Gudell, you may not automatically assume that he’s the player that he is, but just a few minutes into his game, you’ll notice just how smooth he is on the court. Standing at 5-foot-9, Gudell recognizes that size may not be his forte, but his craftiness and shooting ability is. The first night of the GrindSZNKickOff came in a winning effort, where he did it all, from hitting multiple threes to getting his teammates quality buckets around the rim.
Braydon Morgan (2024), Mindset OK (15U):
If you’re looking for a do-it-all guard that plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor, Morgan is your guy. His poise and intensity are atypical of a freshman in high school, and so is his ability to read in-game situations and adjust. Morgan is another guard under six feet that plays bigger than he is. He finished the game with a team-high 17 points in a winning effort and made just as big of an impact on the defensive end of the floor.
