In the semifinals, Flint Beecher won a hard fought 47-34 contest against Hanover-Horton. On the other side of the bracket, Iron Mountain outlasted Schoolcraft by a score of 54-50 in overtime .In the championship game, Flint Beecher put together an outstanding performance that led to a 75-47 victory over Iron Mountain.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
James Cummings II James Cummings II 6'4" | PF Flint Beecher | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, Flint Beecher)
Cummings II showed what’s to come next season. He had 7 points and 7 rebounds in the semis and added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the championship game.
Carmelo Harris Carmelo Harris 6'0" | CG Flint Beecher | 2022 State MI (2022, CG, Flint Beecher)
Harris was an absolute force in the Final 4. In the first game, he had 15 points and 5 rebounds. He followed that with a 16 point and 3 assist performace.
Jurgen Kleiman (2021, PF, Iron Mountain)
Kleinman was solid in the last 2 games. He averaged 9 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in the Final 4.
Conner Mortimer (2021, CG, Hanover-Horton)
Mortimer definitely proved that he’s been underrated. He finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds in the game against Flint Beecher.
Bryce Vanderwiere Bryce Vanderwiere 6'7" | PF Schoolcraft | 2021 State MI (2021, PF, Schoolcraft)
VanderWiere looked like a top notch post player. He had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the semis.
Foster Wonders Foster Wonders 6'5" | SF Iron Mountain | 2021 State MI (2021, SF, Iron Moutain)
Wonders ended a historic high school basketball career. In the semis, he dominated with 34 points and 8 rebounds. He finished the title game with 13 points and 3 rebounds.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Keyon Menifield Keyon Menifield 6'2" | PG Flint Beecher | 2021 State MI Jr. (2021, PG, Flint Beecher)
Menifield Jr. sent the state, and possibly the nation, a big time message. He’s one of the top unsigned seniors in the midwest and beyond. Menifield Jr. was dynamic with the ball in his hands, dropping defenders and exploding past them with a lightning fast first step. His performance in the championship game was one that will be remembered for a very long time. It was one of the single most impressive title game performances in the history of the tournament. Menifield Jr. had 15 points, 5 renounds, and 2 steals in the semis. In the finals, he went off for 37 points, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds.
