The transfer wire in college basketball has been a big deal for a few years but this season seems to be on another level. There are a bunch of different reasons for this but most notably the extra year of eligibility and because of the potential for the one-time transfer exemption. That rule would allow any college player to transfer one time and not sit out the next season regardless of the circumstances. It’s a rule that has been used at the DII level for a while now and has had success but a lot of the DI prospects seem to be trying to take advantage of it immediately. This will even out but will take a couple years.
