Caleb Jenkins Caleb Jenkins 6'6" | C North Central | 2022 State IL Rise 2022 F
The De La Salle big man was a surprise this week stepping up and becoming a good second option for his team. Caleb has a solid frame at 6’5 and he excelled around the rim scoring off passes from teammates with consistency. Jenkins reads the ball well off the rim which put him in double double categories a few times this weekend. Caleb really got my attention when he knocked down a few shots from three point range. Small schools should monitor going forward.
Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 5'10" | PG De La Salle | 2022 State IL Rise 2022 G
Strong weekend from Brown. Tough gritty defender who expanded his role as a scorer and facilitator. Jalen had a difficult task to run the team without his high school teammate and leading scorer by his side. He did a good job by making many shots from the three something he’s become more consistent doing. Brown also kept teams off guard by getting to the rim and mixing up attacks to score and drop dimes. Jalen was instrumental in most of his teams victories.
Bobby Durkin Bobby Durkin 6'6" | SF Hinsdale South | 2022 State IL Breakaway G
Durkin had himself a nice weekend with his Breakaway squad. A team balanced with shooting, sneaky athletes, and very high IQ talented players. Bobby made his niche as the clutch shot guy. Durkin is a 6’6 forward who can play either wing or stretch position. His ability to make shots is the first thing you notice but also being able to beat guys off the dribble to create for himself and others on his team is a big draw for coaches. Already a fan of his older brother who is at Lewis University, Bobby made me a fan of his as he hit big shots for his team on Sunday against two really good travel teams.
Drew Cwik Drew Cwik 6'2" | PG South Elgin | 2022 State IL Breakaway G 2022
Cwik is a marksman from three. He was very consistent in the game I watched. Drew is a 6’0 guard who is quick with the ball in his hands playing north and south looking for players in transition. Drew can get past guys on straight line drives scoring over bigger defenders if they step up. Small schools will love how hard this kid plays with his continuous motor.
Will Grudzinski Will Grudzinski 6'6" | PF Barrington | 2022 State IL Y&R F 2022
Will had some really good moments this weekend. He’s a wing that has sneaky athleticism if you try to meet him at the rim he might dunk on you. Grudzinski mixed it up this weekend from the perimeter and making sound plays at the rim. He’s a good shooter from three with the ability to be more efficient. Will found ways to score in the mid-range by playing well off the ball and finding way to get open. He should get attention from high academic schools either D2 or Low Majors programs
Xavier Lewis Xavier Lewis 6'7" | PF Tf South | 2022 State IL Y&R F 2022
Lewis was still effective even after a minor set back in one of the games where he injured his shoulder. Xavier played well in Sundays games as he battles on the boards hard getting any missed shots and going back up with authority. Lewis is a versatile forward who has a good face up game that he uses it in his arsenal when looking to score. On defense he protects the rim with his mobility and a knack to anticipate shots. Lewis is still division 1 prospect who can be productive to any school when his motor is constantly running.
KJ Debrick KJ Debrick 6'7" | C Springfield Lanphier | 2021 State IL IL Hoopstars F 2022
The big man from Springfield is such a good post product that shouldn’t go under the radar. KJ is a wide big man at 6’8 who has good feel and touch around the rim. His footwork is excellent and most defenders are left with their head down after guarding him. Debrick isn’t just a prototypical back to the basket player he stepped out and made shots from 15 foot and from three point range. KJ made the decision to go prep and I’m sure if he continues to trend up he will be a mid to high major prospect come next year.
AJ Redd

IL Hoopstars G 2022
Redd is a solid guard who can be a pick your poison type of guard. AJ has a slick handle and can get to the rim often with his crafty play. He scores with effective takes around defenders. Redd is a solid lead guard who keeps his head on a swivel and can hit guys in stride going to the rim. AJ is a guard who is used to playing with talented players always finding a way to stand out on the court and will be a prospect to track going into the summer.
Nick Martinelli Nick Martinelli 6'6" | SF Glenbrook South | 2022 State #235 Nation IL Meanstreets. F 2022
I couldn’t do an article and not mention the multi-talented Martinelli. Nick took a different role playing with the Streets as a scoring forward with the second unit. In the games Martinelli answered a lot of questions thrown his way about competing against higher quality competition. Nick still finished at the rim in various ways using either hand. He does a good job at adjusting to defenses and attacking any weakness he sees. Martinelli didn’t play long stretches but when he got in he was effective and added depth to a loaded Meanstreets team.
Lane Mcvicar Lane Mcvicar 6'5" | SG Dekalb | 2022 IL M14 2022 F
Lane played well in the game I watched on Sunday. He made a couple threes and even mixed in some strong attack plays to the bucket. As a tweener forward McVicar can adjust to who’s guarding him. Lane has a decent handle that does the job at the high school level. Should improve when being guarded by smaller defenders. His IQ helps him make instinctive plays when in tough situations. The mid-range game for Lane will be what separates him from other prospects in his class.
