The city of Boise will be rocking this weekend as the Boise Spring Showcase will take place April 9-11 at various locations around town. In the 17U Open field will be several top teams from the Pacific Northwest, notably a total of five squads from two of Oregon’s top club programs in the Oregon Prospects and A-Train Oregon Magic. Here’s a quick look at the players that are scheduled to be in Idaho.
On one 17U squad for the Prospects, it will be a hodge podge of players as top players such as Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ (2022 Jefferson), Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ (2023 Jefferson), Luke Johnson Luke Johnson 6'8" | PF Central Catholic | 2022 WV (2022 Central Catholic), and Cal Poly Pomona commit Dane Erikstrup are not able to attend. Point guard Leo DeBruhl (2021 Seattle Academy) and big man Dallon Morgan Dallon Morgan 6'9" | PF Sprague | 2022 State OR (2022 Sprague) are the highlight names while others such as Bennett Bos Bennett Bos 6'3" | SG Salem Academy | 2021 State OR (2021 Salem Academy) and Connor Hills Connor Hills 5'6" | PG Barlow | 2022 State OR (2022 Barlow) will be primed to do some damage.
The Prospects 17U Gold squad will largely consist of seniors with Nic Boyd Nic Boyd 6'0" | PG La Salle Prep | 2021 State OR (2021 La Salle) manning the point and Concordia-St. Paul signee Jonah Zeller Jonah Zeller 6'9" | C Catlin Gabel | 2021 State OR (2021 Catlin Gabel) providing defense in the post. Trent Templeton Trent Templeton 5'11" | CG David Douglas | 2021 State OR (2021 David Douglas) and Trenton Rymal Trenton Rymal 6'4" | SF Franklin | 2021 State OR (2021 Franklin) join the squad to assist in the backcourt.
A-Train Oregon Magic will have two squads. The Grey squad is headlined by Devon Malcolm Devon Malcolm 6'4" | SF South Medford | 2022 State OR (2022 South Medford) who has transferred to the Panthers after playing at Butte Falls the past couple of years. They will also have plenty of firepower in the backcourt with twins Malik Brown Malik Brown 6'0" | PG Tigard | 2023 State OR (2023 Tigard) and Kalim Brown Kalim Brown 6'0" | CG Tigard | 2023 State OR (2023 Tigard) and have added Esyah Pippa-White Esyah Pippa-White 6'2" | PG Gresham | 2023 State OR (2023 Gresham).
The Purple squad for A-Train Oregon Magic is filled with a number of younger players such as twins Moroni Seely-Roberts Moroni Seely-Roberts 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Yamhill-County) and Malachi Seely-Roberts Malachi Seely-Roberts 6'8" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Yamhill-County) and a whole host of guys based in Southern Oregon notably senior Hunter Chubb Hunter Chubb 6'2" | CG Crater | 2021 State OR (2021 Crater) and junior Colby Wood Colby Wood 5'10" | PG Butte Falls | 2022 OR (2022 Butte Falls).
