There were quite a few talented teams including the entire Boo Williams organization, and were lots of talented players across the board. Here’s a look at part one of the many standouts throughout the event.
You can check out the stream and every game on court one of the event on the CBG Live Network.
Jerome Beya Jerome Beya 6'9" | C Teays Valley Christian Prep | 2022 KS | 6’8” PF | Boo Williams EYBL/Teay’s Valley Christian ’22
Beya is one of the most sought after 2022 big men prospects in the country, and it’s pretty easy to see why after watching him with BWSL as he is a grown man in the paint that is as explosive as anyone his size I’ve seen in the class. He’s still a little bit raw on the offensive end, but he’s an elite rim runner and rim protector that can erase shots and rebound on both ends both in and out of his area and he’s excellent on lobs and catch and finishes in the post. He plays with a good motor and is intimidating in the paint, and as he continues to develop on the offensive end he will be a big time problem at the next level.
Kanye Clary Kanye Clary 5'11" | PG Massanutten | 2022 State VA | 5’11” PG | Boo Williams EYBL/Massanutten ’22
The BWSL backcourt was a problem for most teams they played, and it was started with Clary who sets the tone on both ends of the floor and is the playmaker and floor general for the group. He’s super shifty and dynamic off the bounce and is very tough to keep out of the lane, and while he can make others better he’s also a big time scoring threat off the bounce as he’s improved his shooting ability and can score from multiple levels off the bounce with tough shots. He’s also an elite on ball defender and makes opposing ball handlers and scorers uncomfortable when he gets underneath them.
Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson 6'4" | NA lbs | SG Grissom | 2022 State #NA Nation AL | 6’3” WG | Boo Williams EYBL ’22
Johnson is the only returner for BWSL from last year’s team, and he showed why as he can fill it up with the best of them and is set to explode on the recruitment trail this summer on the EYBL. An elite scorer that also has a great feel on both ends of the floor, “Butter” has a smooth scoring game where he can knock it down from deep and can create space off the bounce to be able to make shots from multiple levels. He can work on and off the basketball to get open, and he doesn’t force things as he can make plays for others as well.
DJ Campbell | 6’1” PG | Boo Williams EYBL/Kecoughtan ’22
Campbell is the glue to this talented backcourt, as he’s the all-around guard that has terrific feel on both ends and finds ways to impact the game in a number of ways. He’s a smooth guard that changes speeds and directions well and can get in the lane, he can score from multiple levels and has great vision and playmaking ability as well. Where Campbell is really underrated and makes a huge impact for them is on the defensive end, as he can guard the best player on the other team and he has great instincts and feel off the ball to get deflections and shoot passing lanes as well.
Kyrese Mullen | 6’5” PF | Boo Williams EYBL/Massanutten ’22
Mullen is the guy who rounds out the starting lineup for Boo, and he’s a mismatch guy for the group as he has the bruising size to bang in the post and the paint and he’s improved as a shooter that can stretch the floor as well. He has good hands and touch in the paint, he’s surprisingly quick in the post and can finish through contact and he brings a physicality that makes him able to impact the game against bigger post guys.
Jaden Daughtry Jaden Daughtry 6'6" | SF Benedictine College Prep | 2022 VA | 6’5” WF | BWSL Marsh/LC Bird ’22
Daughtry was the leading scorer in the 17U division throughout the event, and he’s right on the verge of breaking out and becoming one of the hottest recruits in the Virginia area. The 6’5” forward has a mix of strength, athleticism and plays with a great motor that makes him extremely productive in multiple ways including as a scorer, rebounder and a facilitator when he’s able to get downhill. He showed a good handle and ability to finish through the lane, he can make shots from deep when he gets it going and he has a nonstop motor that makes him come at you time and time again.
Brycen Blaine Brycen Blaine 6'5" | SG LC Bird | 2022 GA | 6’3” CG | BWSL Marsh/LC Bird ’22
Blaine is another 2022 prospect that division one coaches need to get on moving forward, as he has taken a huge jump in the past year and has a lot of intrigue as a two way impact guard. He can play both on and off the basketball and is able to get in the lane and to the rim very well where he can both finish and make plays for others. He’s a big time defender that can guard multiple positions and is good both on and off the ball, and he plays with a good motor as well.
