It was a great event to see some under the radar talent, and we’ll take a look at the many standouts, continuing with part two of the 2022 prospects that stood out throughout the day.
You can watch all of the games from court one of the event on the CBG Live Network here.
Brandon Brown Brandon Brown 6'2" | CG Teays Valley Christian Prep | 2022 State WV | 6’3” CG | Big Shots Tri-Cities/Teay’s Valley Christan (WV)
Brown was one of my favorite players at the event and I hadn’t seen him in a few seasons, but it’s evident that he’s a division one prospect that more coaches need to be on. The 6’3” combo guard brings a mix of athleticism, toughness and skill to his team that makes him very tough to guard, and he’s a quiet guy but a natural leader that brings energy to his team with his above the rim play. He had multiple impressive dunks throughout the event, he shot it extremely well from deep and whenever they needed a bucket he was there to give them one.
Hamilton Campbell | 6’0” PG | Big Shots Tri-Ctiies/Moravian Prep (NC)
Brown’s backcourt mate, Campbell was the vocal leader that brought energy and playmaking to his group and whenever they were down he was the one to bring them back up with his intensity. He’s a tough kid that loves to compete, and he’s a high level playmaker who sees the floor and is able to make passes that others simply aren’t able to make. He’s a player who makes others better and is able to score when he needs to, and will compete with whoever is put in front of him.
Ant Davis | 6’4” WF | Big Shots Tri-Cities/Bishop McLaughlin (FL)
Davis plays high school ball in Florida but is from Virginia and is another part of this talented Big Shots team that won the event, and he stepped up big down the stretch when they needed him to. An athletic wing that plays way above the rim, Davis thrives in transition and when he can get downhill where he can use his strength and athleticism to finish in the paint and will posterize guys if they aren’t careful. He can guard multiple positions, handles it well in transition and brings good energy on both ends of the floor to his team.
Amare Kennedy | 6’0” CG | Potomac Valley Phenoms/Mountain Ridge (MD)
Kennedy showed some great playmaking ability for PVP, as he was extremely shifty and quick and able to create things out of nothing throughout the game I watched them in. The 6’0” guard showed he can play on or off the basketball, and he used his quickness on both ends to get things done in positive ways for his team. He was a good on ball defender and jumped the passing lanes, he lived in the lane and was able to get to the rim at will and he made plays almost every time his team needed him to.
Jeremiah Little-John | 6’4” WG | Team Vito Red/Rock Creek Christian (MD)
Little-John is emerging as one of the more underrated division one prospects in the DMV area as the Rock Creek wing showed his scoring ability and more throughout the event. He has prototypical size to play the two spot at the next level, and while he got off to a slow start he started to pick it up and make shots from deep at a consistent pace. He can attack off bounce and use his athleticism and finishing ability when he gets downhill, and he has good instincts on the defensive end too.
Keynan Cutlip | 6’3”WG | Big Shots Tri-Cities Select/Science Hill (TN)
Cutlip played on the Tri-Cities Select team for most of the event, and the wing out of Science Hill was huge in their run as he cooked some of the top teams in attendance. The 6’3” wing is big and strong and knows how to body up defensively, and he’s a fantastic shooter that has deep range and can get hot quickly. He made big shots throughout the event in clutch situations, and he was one of the more consistent guys as well.
