It was a great event to see some under the radar talent, and we’ll take a look at the many standouts, continuing with part two of the 2022 prospects that stood out throughout the day.
You can watch all of the games from court one of the event on the CBG Live Network here.
Jayson Easton Jayson Easton 6'4" | SG James River (Buchanan VA) | 2022 State VA | 6’3” WG | VA Havoc Roa/James River (Buchanan)
Easton joined an already talented James River team and played alongside teammate Patrick Clevenger Patrick Clevenger 6'6" | SF James River (Buchanan) | 2022 State VA as both showed why they’ll be a contender next high school season. Easton is an all-around guard that can shoot it and score in multiple ways, and he has a mix of intelligence and toughness that makes him productive across the board. He showed the ability to make a variety of shots and was a scrappy two way player as well.
Ethan Millirons Ethan Millirons 6'0" | PG Auburn | 2022 State VA | 6’0” PG | VA Premier /Auburn
Millirons was the guy who ran the show for a very talented Premier team on their way to the championship game before losing to Big Shots Tri-Cities. He’s a high cerebral guard who is skilled and very fundamental, and there aren’t many things he can’t do with the ball in his hands. Whether it was getting in the lane or making a great read in transition, knocking down shots from multiple levels or making great reads in the press for steals and deflections, Millirons had his fingerprints all over every game he played in.
Walker Andrews Walker Andrews 6'1" | CG Virginia Episcopal | 2022 State VA | 6’0” WG | VA Premier /VES
Andrews was the microwave guy for Premier all weekend long, as the two guard is the type of guy who gets hot quickly and can take games over when he starts to feel it. Even after he goes through a tough shooting streak, Andrews stays confident and knows it will only take one for him to get it going and when he does he can flat out fill it up. He has deep range and a very quick release, he can attack closeouts and score in the midrange and he’s a scrappy and smart defensive player that puts himself in so many positions to be successful.
Michael Cooper | 6’3” WF | VA Premier /Woodbridge
Cooper was a great energy guy throughout the event and was a big part in their run to the championship as he provided energy and production off the bench for them. He’s a gritty guy who takes pride on the defensive end and can turn defense into offense with his ability to play in transition and finish above the rim. He’s a guy who can make shots when he’s left open, he can slash and get to the basket and he brings it on both ends regularly.
Connor Tilley | 6’3” WG | VA Premier /Lord Botetourt
Tilley at times was the forgotten guy on this talented Premier team, until he’d come in and catch fire and make multiple threes in a row and go on a run on his own, which he did multiple times! He’s a stocky and strong wing that can body up both on the perimeter and in the paint, but he really excels when he gets it going and can knock down shots from pretty much anywhere behind the arc. He has good footwork and can get set and let it fly on the move, he has deep range and great confidence once he gets it going and he can flat out stroke it from deep with the best of them.
Max Alahante | 6’5” PF | Stafford Orange/Colonial Forge
Alahante was the most productive guy for Stafford Orange throughout their run to the semifinals, and was the top scorer and rebounder in both their quarterfinal and semifinal games. An undersized but extremely crafty and productive big man, Alahante was a walking mismatch as he could play both on the perimeter and in the post, and was able to score in many different ways for his team. He showed he can catch and finish among bigger and more athletic guys, he scored over both shoulders in the post and he stepped out and showed he can knock down threes as well.
Josiah Golden | 5’11” WG | Stafford Orange/Colonial Forge
Golden was the ultimate glue guy for Stafford Orange, as he brought it on both ends of the floor and did a little bit of everything to help his team win. He’s a guy who can guard multiple positions and rebounds well for his position, he showed he can be a secondary ball handler and make good decisions and he made shots from multiple levels when he was left open. He was fantastic down the stretch in a few big games as he made big shots when they needed and wasn’t scared of playing against the best of the best.
