Here are some returning players in 3A who will have big shoes to fill next year:
Cooper Autry Cooper Autry 6'3" | SG Holcomb | 2022 State KS , junior, Holcomb:
The Longhorns will be hit hard when they lose Zephyn Mason Zephyn Mason 6'0" | PG Holcomb | 2021 State KS , a third-team 3A guard who racked up 19 points per game as a senior. But 6-foot-4 junior guard/wing Autry will be a good place to start. He’s a rebounding machine from the guard spot, pulling down 9.6 per game as a junior. He received honorable mention 3A and will take another step forward next year. He can shoot, guard multiple positions, and make athletic plays in the interior.
Landon Boss Landon Boss 6'1" | SF Osage City | 2023 State KS , sophomore, Osage City:
Gunnar Fort Gunnar Fort 6'3" | SG Osage City | 2021 State KS bounced back from an injury to have a really good senior year. He scored in double figures in nearly every game, with several 20-plus efforts. But Boss was well established in Fort’s absence and will continue to lead the Indians upon Fort’s graduation. Boss was an automatic double-figure scorer with a bunch of 20-plus point games, and was equally tough on the glass.
Servando Gonzalez Servando Gonzalez 5'10" | CG Lakin | 2022 State KS , junior, Lakin:
Gonzalez earned honorable mention as a junior for the Broncs, who spent the season as one of the top-ranked teams in 3A. He’ll have to carry more load at the guard spot after the Broncs lose second-team 3A performer Hunter Davis Hunter Davis 5'9" | PG Lakin | 2021 State KS , and running mate Dominick Daniels, an honorable mention pick. Gonzalez was best known as a 3-point threat last season, but he’ll have to take over a lot more of a traditional point guard role.
Trey Harmison, junior, Riley County:
The twins Connor and Avery Holle were a couple of gamers for the Falcons. They excelled in multiple sports. Their toughness and leadership will be difficult to replace, but Harmison was really good as a junior for Riley County. The 6-foot guard had numerous double-figure efforts and was recognized as honorable mention 3A for his play.
Dylan Werth, sophomore, TMP:
A first-team 3A performer like Jackson Schulte will be really tough to replace. But the 6-foot-6 Werth developed into one of the best big men in the small school ranks, taking his game to new heights in the playoffs. He scored 22 and 21 and 17 in three sub-state games. He earned honorable mention 3A and will be one of the top returning bigs next season.
