Joe Baldwin | 6’6” Forward | District Basketball Club/Fairfax Christian (VA)
Defensively, you won’t find many who are better in the local 2023 class than Joe Baldwin. He is a fluid mover who guards multiple positions. Baldwin can also protect the rim. He still has so much untapped potential offensively that will only improve as time goes on.
Doyle Brown | 6’0” Guard | District Basketball Club/Centreville (VA)
Doyle Brown has come out of nowhere to establish a reputation as one of the better marksmen in the DMV. Whether spotting up or from on the move, Brown sets his feet quickly and releases the ball without hesitation. Another thing he does well is snag rebounds. Brown is usually a safe bet to haul in at least 3 to 5 rebounds per game.
Corey Caulker | 6’0” Guard | District Basketball Club/Fairfax Christian (VA)
One of the reasons why District 16’s had so many standouts this spring is because of the steady point guard play delivered by Corey Caulker. Not only does he set the tone with suffocating on-ball pressure defensively, but he controls the tempo of the game and makes sure his team is executing their sets.
Margad Choijilsuren | 6’4” Guard | NOVA Cavaliers/Fairfax (VA)
Margad Choijilsuren is gaining valuable experience playing up with the 17U Cavs. He’s not just up there for the experience though. He is legitimately making a difference on both ends of the floor on a consistent basis. Choijilsuren handles a lion’s share of the ball-handling duties. He loves operating from the pick and roll. He is a thoughtful decision-maker with the ball who is also sneaky athletic and quite skilled. Choijilsuren is a student of the game, and this is evident by how he reacts defensively. He is outstanding at intercepting passes and knows how to capitalize quickly in transition.
KJ Gardner KJ Gardner 6'2" | SG Springdale Prep | 2023 State MD | 6’1” Guard | District Basketball Club/Springdale Prep (MD)
KJ Gardner KJ Gardner 6'2" | SG Springdale Prep | 2023 State MD is a new individual we learned about this spring. To be blunt, he can go. Gardner is a rangy guard who plays bigger than his listed height. He thrives in transition and invites contact on his way to the rim. Gardner’s defensive potential is significant in part because of his length and anticipation.
Kayden Tuffour | 6’6” Forward | District Basketball Club/Good Counsel (MD)
Kayden Tuffour has a chance to be one of the better defensive prospects in the local 2023 class. He had an unbelievable chase-down block in a scrimmage a couple of weeks back. The type of block that you will never forget. Tuffour loves getting up and down the floor and plays above the rim. He prefers to slash to the rim and finish over the top of the defense. It will be very interesting to see how this young man’s overall game develops in the upcoming weeks and months.
