What first-year prospects made the biggest impact?
It’s not always easy to breakout onto the varsity level, but the following players did just that. These individuals also had to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic affecting their season. Credit to every player dealing with both tasks on and off the court.
Let’s dive into the selections…
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'4" | SF West Orange | 2021 State FL – Miami Norland
A no-brainer selection here. The 6-foot-6 Allen averaged 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on 50 percent shooting from the field. He is an electrifying wing with sky-high potential. Allen scored 15 or more points in 12 games and had five double-doubles. The freshman phenom helped the Vikings to a 19-9 record and a spot in the 5A regional final. He has been offered by Florida State.
Christian Reid Christian Reid 6'5" | SF Mater Lakes | 2024 State FL – SLAM
Another selection that I comfortably made. The 6-foot-4 Reid averaged 15.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on 58 percent shooting from the field. Moreover, Reid only had three games where he shot below 45 percent. He is a fantastic rebounding guard at a young age. Reid recorded nine games with 10 or more boards. His length also netted him 28 blocks. Could be a top backcourt prospect sooner or later. He is the brother of former Dr. Krop forward Justin Reid Justin Reid 6'5" | PF Dr. Krop | 2020 State FL .
Jordyn Kee Jordyn Kee 6'5" | CG Coranado | 2024 NV – Westlake Prep
Kee put up some monster performances playing for Westlake Prep. The 6-foot-4 guard scored 28 points and knocked down seven 3-pointers in a game against Triple Threat Prep. Kee dropped another 25 points and grabbed five rebounds against Vision Academy (NY). He has a ton of burst and explosiveness at this stage. Furthermore, his frame already gives him a leg up on his competition. Anyone with further information on Kee, please feel free to contact me.
Malik Abdullahi – Columbus
Abdullahi averaged a solid 8.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game on 45 percent shooting from the field this season. Moreover, the 6-foot-6 recorded 15 games with 10 or more boards. Against Miami Norland, he grabbed 20 alone. In addition, his length contributed to 41 rejections. He has a nice shooting touch for a player still developing. Abdullahi shot 50 percent or better from the floor in ten games. Look for him to averaged a double-double as a sophomore.
Stone Bureau Stone Bureau 6'0" | PG Calvary Christian Academy, Ft. Lauderdale | 2024 State FL – Suncoast
Bureau is probably the best freshman in Palm Beach County. The 6-foot point guard averaged 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 steals on 50 percent shooting from the field this season. He is an excellent defender with quick hands, evident by his 37 steals. Against Olympic Heights (13-2), Bureau had 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. His season-high of 21 points against Jupiter also resulted in five dimes and five steals. Bureau is a playmaker that contributes on all areas of the floor. Keep an eye on his 3-point shooting. Bureau shot 36 percent in limited numbers.
