Between Autaugaville High, Billingsley High, Ellwood Christian Academy, Maplesville and Verbena, some un-noticed players from this area are beginning to gain steam.
Here are the top players from Area 7.
Trevon Blackmon | 6-8 F | Maplesville HS
In 2020, Blackmon finished fourth in the region and on the team in total scoring. The incoming senior scored a total of 76 points in the 2020-21 season and averaged 5.4 points per game.
At the forward position, Blackmon is an excellent big man that can pound the glass and grab rebounds at both ends of the court. On defense, the forward is great at forcing the ball handler into his area and taking control by forcing turnovers and blocking shots.
Jakavion Jackson | 5-8 G | Maplesville HS
Jackson is another Maplesville player that excels on the court. The guard scored a total of 75 points in 2020-21 and averaged 5.4 points per game.
Entering his junior year, his court time should improve and so will the points total. This is a guard that is great at getting to the rim and finishing on drives. He can also hit an open mid-range jumper and three-point attempt.
Antonio Hardy Jr. | 6-2 G | Autaugaville HS
Autaugaville went 31-0 last season and Hardy played a key role in that success. The guard is one of the best in all of Class 1A and can score from anywhere on the court.
Hardy possesses great court vision and knows when to drive to the basket when the defense is in a switch.
Juan Flores | 5-11 F | Verbena HS
Flores may just be one of the best posts players in Area 7.
The junior showed flashes of greatness last season and looks to repeat that in his senior year.
In the paint, he attacks the rim and fights for rebounds. He is an excellent player that can drive to the rim against smaller defenders and get an easy bucket.
Jaden Nixon | 6-3 PG, SG, SF | Autaugaville HS
Nixon is a player that can play nearly any position on the court.
The sophomore did it all for Autaugaville last season. He played point guard, shooting guard and small forward.
Nixon excels at getting to the rim but can also set up plays for his teammates. Though he was just a sophomore in 2020-21, Nixon will have two years left to increase his stock by playing all three positions.
