The players listed below could be guys to watch for in the 2021-22 basketball season.
Zane Weeks | 6-1 SF | Florala HS
Weeks is a phenomenal combo player. He can play small forward and wing. The rising junior has solid court vision and knows the right time to pass out to an open teammate.
On offense, Weeks can drive to the basket and challnge defenders, or he can set up a pick and roll for another teammate. He also has a nice mid-range jumper and can hit an open three-point attempt.
Jacob Branch | 5-11 G | Samson HS
Branch will enter his junior season in 2021-22. Through two years of play, he has received quality playing time for his level of skill on the court.
The 5’11” guard is exceptional at finding a way to get to the rim. His frame gives him the capability to snag rebounds on both ends of the floor.
On offense, Branch is a player that will shine in his final two years. He is excellent at powering his way through defenders but he can also find the open teammate for a quick score.
On defense, the junior is a sensational defender. He can force ball handlers to pass out and avoids giving up an easy shot attempt.
Nick Short | 5-9 PG | Pleasant Home HS
Short has become one of the team leaders for Pleasant Home. He is excellent at finding the open lane and driving to the basket.
On defense, Short is a player that can trap ball handlers and help out his teammates in any given situation when the defense needs to switch to force the opposing team into unwanted shot selections.
Ashton Threatt | 6-1 F | Pleasant Home HS
Threatt is one of the most underrated players in the area. At 6’1″, the incoming senior is a sensational forward on both ends of the floor.
When his team is on offense, Threatt can set the pick and roll and drive towards the basket and get a pass for an open basket. But on defense, the rising senior can trap ball handlers in the post and force them to either take an unwanted shot or pass out to try and get a better look.
Blake Senn | 5-9 SG, PG | Kinston HS
Senn is a combo guard that plays both positions at a high level. When the Bulldogs need a quick bucket, Senn can attack the rim or hit a spot up shot from anywhere on the court.
Not only is he one of the underrated players in the area, but Senn is one of the best underrated players on the Kinston roster.
He has a tremendous upside to his game that translates to both ends of the floor.
