Here are the top five players in Area 12.
Preston Conniff | 5-10 G | Brilliant HS
Conniff displayed great ability to score last season for Brilliant. The incoming senior will likely be the school’s top guard. He has excellent court vision and can score quickly off the pick and roll.
The guard is great defensively and can draw defenders into him and force turnovers. He can also rebound well on both ends of the court.
Marcus Meeks | 5-9 PG, SG | Lynn HS
Meeks is a terrific combo guard. In fact, he might be one of the top combo guards in all of Class 1A. At point guard, Meeks is great at taking control of the team and getting to the rim to score. He also plays the shooting guard position well.
The incoming senior can rise up from anywhere on his team’s side of the court against defenders. He isn’t afraid to drive into the paint and create a challenge for taller defenders.
Jake Burden | 6-2 F | Meek HS
Burden is one of the top players in not only Area 12, but he is one of the top players on his school’s team. At the forward position, the 6’2″ Burden excels in the paint and is a rebounding machine. He can snag boards from both ends of the floor.
Burden has a strong defensive game and creates a challenge for small defenders trying to drive to the rim.
David Tidwell | 5-8 G | Meek HS
Tidwell is an excellent scorer with solid court vision. He knows the right time to fly past defenders to get to the rim. He also has a solid mid-range jumper and can hit any open three point attempt.
On defense, Tidwell excels at forcing the ball handler away from him to give his teammates the opportunity to create turnovers.
Hunter Fosse | 6-3 C | Brilliant HS
Fosse has great size and can play his position well. At 6’3″, 307 pounds, Fosse is a mismatch for smaller post players. He protects the rim well at both ends of the floor.
Fosse doesn’t average many points per game, but he is a defensive machine. The incoming senior excels at blocking shots and forcing the ball handler to pass to another teammate to avoid turnovers.
