Continue ReadingArea 1 of Class 1A in Southwest Alabama has a multitude of talent when it comes to the game of basketball at the high school level. Looking into the area, there are four high schools that make up Area 1. Those schools are Bayshore Christian School, Fruitdale High School, McIntosh High School and Millry High School. These four schools combiined are producing some of the top talent in the Southwest portion of the state.
Here are the top five players in Area 1 of Class 1A.
Joseph Warrick | 6-2 F | Millry HS
Warrick is entering his sophomore season in 2021, but gave Millry something to look forward to for the next few years. At 6’2″, the forward displays a strong work ethic on the court and is exceptional on the defensive end of the floor.
His playing time will certainly increase as he continues to grow in the game. Warrick could be a player to watch for in Area 1 next season.
Myles Dixon | 5-10 G | McIntosh HS
Dixon portrays solid court vision and is excellent with the ball in his hands on an offensive possession. The incoming senior is also great off the ball helping to set up scoring plays for his teammates.
On the defensive side, the guard is great at staying step for step with the ball handler. He has great awareness of where the ball is and knows the right time to create a turnover.
TaQuinton Reed | 6-1 F | McIntosh HS
Reed is an exceptional playmaker that excels in the post. His best game comes when he can force a defender into an unwanted situation on defense and make the easy bucket.
On defense, Reed is great at forcing opposing ball handlers to pass out to another teammate and can take a foul on any given possession.
Kane Williams | 6-0 G | Fruitdale HS
Williams is a terrific finisher that can drive to the glass or hit an open mid-range jumper with an advantage over defenders. His speed on the court give him the ability to take a fast break play and score an open bucket.
On defense, Williams can force a steal or help create a trap to force a turnover.
Karston Doggette | 6-7 C | Millry HS
Doggette is a phenomenal player on the basketball court. His height advantage gives him the ability to force an opposing ball handler into the post where he can take away a clean shot attempt.
On offense, the incoming senior is a team first player that can take a pass down low and hit the basket if given the opportunity. But, he also excels at finding open teammates on the perimeter.
