The 3+ hour workout, covering 4 age groups, was organized, efficient, filled with pace, precision and enthusiasm, something that reminded me of my coaching days when I had everything down to the minute and positivity reigned.
Came away honored to be associated with such an organization and such a skilled and accomplished staff, and expect to see and hear a lot from the entire breadth of ages.
So we as a HS-age centric site will take a look for openers at their 15U’s (2024’s), who for the record did spend the opening portion of the evening working out with the 14U’s (2025’s, current 8th-graders, smooth guard Cal Faulkner of Lumpkin County stood out most among that grouping).
Will Moore, 6-1, SG, West Forsyth (pictured above)
One of the night’s true bright spots both for his inherent skillset as well as his boundless energy and enthusiasm to be on the floor, like older brother and 2022 riser Grant has exceptional athletic skills that translate well to the game, uses his vertical ability and speed afoot to great use scoring over folks as well as blowing by them, like virtually the entire BCB organization can seriously stroke it from 3-land, with that length and athletic ability can guard multiple spots, a must-watch 2024 on the move.
Braden Mullis, 5-11, PG, North Forsyth
Saw varsity minutes this past season and it was easy to see why, has a confidence and advanced understanding of both how to take care of the ball and where to see attack chances, add to that plenty of craft in his offense and strength on his frame and you have a young PG prospect with intriguing upside, another lethal 3-point shooter he was a handful for anyone at either age group to stay with, expect him to have the ball in his hands a lot in critical situations this summer.
Sam Maynard, 6-3, SF, West Forsyth
Sneaky athleticism particularly off the dribble where he was able to get by folks and finish with regularity, soft hands and nice footwork for a young big man, good fight on the boards, if he grows another 2 or 3 inches could really develop into something interesting with those feet, those hands and a nice shooting touch out to the arc.
Caleb Underwood, 6-0, South Forsyth
The younger brother of 2022 War Eagle SG Ethan, a bit more physical than his older brother and more inclined to drive it downhill, good frame already and while not quite yet the money deadeye bomber his brother is showed he too can make you pay from the perimeter, a great fit with his versatility and with these other guards will benefit from Mullis’ vision and Moore’s creativity.
Sam Thacker, 5-8, PG, Providence Christian
Older brother Chance has come so far physically and is now 6-4 and more than 200lbs so it almost escaped me that this was his younger brother until a coach pointed it out, but once that was established we saw some of the Thacker gene-pool in the way he carried himself on the floor with an air, the sound decision-making, unselfish play and eventually spot-on long-range shooting.
OTHERS TO WATCH: Luke Jensen (Denmark), Brayden Turner (North Forsyth), Chase Damerall (West Forsyth), Brighton Paul (Habersham Central), Isaac Bealer (West Forsyth)
