The 2020-21 season was obviously different than most, but the majority of teams were able to get in a lot of games and played up to their potential throughout the unorthodox season. This list features the top scorers from the 5A SIC based on their average points per game. That being said, some players had a smaller sample size than others due to the number of games they had played during their respective seasons. Joe Mpoyo Joe Mpoyo 6'4" | SG Meridian | 2021 State ID , Meridian: Joe averaged 18.7 points per game in conference this past season and showed his ability to score in a variety of ways. Mpoyo finished well at the rim with both hands and has the ability to get to the free throw line at will. He finishes through contact with ease and doesn’t back down from anyone at the rim. Joe also has a deadly jumper from outside and can also use a mid-range pull-up jumper to catch defenders off balance. Joe reads defenders well and always finds a way to score, even when faced with different matchups or defensive tactics.
Cooper Lumsden Cooper Lumsden 6'3" | SG Timberline | 2021 State ID , Timberline: Cooper averaged 18 points per game this season and showed flashes of offensive skill and dominance throughout this past year. Cooper has great size for his position and was able to use mid-range post ups and turn around jumpers to find ways to score against smaller defenders. Additionally, Lumsden finished well in the paint and knocked down a lot of free throws during the season. Finally, Lumsden can knock down the long ball and also does a great ball of finding ways to score easy buckets in order to get himself going.
Brody Rowbury Brody Rowbury 6'11" | C Meridian | 2021 State ID , Meridian: Brody averaged 17.2 points per game this season on his way to a state championship with Meridian. Rowbury showed his dominance in the post for Meridian all year long and also proved that he can play outside when needed. With his back to the basket, Rowbury’s size makes him very difficult to guard and he is skilled going over either shoulder to score. Brody also developed a nice jump shot for this season and showed consistency when stepping away from the basket.
