Let’s not forget, most sophomores aren’t key contributors at the varsity level. Even more rare, is when we find key sophomores this late in the state playoffs. Here are 5 sophomores whose teams are still alive and that are having a say in how the playoffs this season unfold.

Amonte Allen Amonte Allen 6'1" | PG Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI -Johnson (2023, PG, Grand Blanc)

On a loaded Grand Blanc roster, Allen-Johnson still makes his impact felt. He’s a versatile guard and a solid perimeter defender. Allen-Johnson is smart and efficient on offense, recognizing high percentage scoring opportunities and taking advantage of them.

Kaden Brown Kaden Brown 5'10" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)

Brown has had a lights out sophomore season. He plays the point with some flash and flare with his shiftiness around the rim. Brown does a nice job controlling the game and making sure that his fingerprint is on it. If he plays big, Grand Rapids Catholic Central will be a very tough out the rest of the way in the state playoffs.

Owen Colpaert Owen Colpaert 6'1" | SG Macomb Dakota | 2023 State MI (2023, SG, Macomb Dakota)

Colpaert has been terrific this season. He’s shown a ton of growth as a player from when the season tipped off to present day.
