With so few players ranked in the initial 2023 rankings, there aren’t very many “stock risers”, and those that did elevate their stock didn’t move up the rankings too significantly. But Kingery, a long, 6-4 wing from Indianola, now finds himself in the top 5 of the class after a very productive sophomore season. A lanky shooter who moves well off the ball and has a silky smooth stroke, he has improved his all-around game, showing an increased willingness and ability to get others involved.

The skilled Huskies lead guard grew a few inches and showcased an improved perimeter stroke this year and showed much more confidence in that stroke. If he can become a more efficient shooter, he’ll be one of the best scoring threats in the state, as his handles and quickness make him really tough to keep out of the paint already. He’s a gifted playmaker who sees the floor really well, and is one of the best pick-and-roll lead guards we’ve seen in our time at PHIA with his ability to get others involved, turn the corner and get downhill, or pop behind the screen and knock down jumpers.

Tobiloba’s offensive game is still very much a work in progress, but there is no denying the potential that the young big man has. Standing at 7-0 and blessed with great physical tools and athleticism, he’s going to be a coveted prospect even if his offensive game doesn’t develop much past what it is right now due to his ability to rebound the ball and protect the paint. He’s a long, switchable defender with a knack for blocking shots, and he does a pretty good job at avoiding foul trouble. A solid rim-runner with good hands, if he can develop his footwork and touch around the bucket, watch out.

Few players in the 2023 class have as much potential as the 6-4 wing from Cedar Rapids, and he moves into the top 10 as a result. Sain is a long, athletic wing who can score from all three levels and impact the game on the defensive end. If he can become a more consistent shooter from the perimeter, the sky is the limit.

The 6-3 wing put up remarkable shooting splits as a sophomore, averaging 18.7 points on 59-51-76 shooting. He’s got good size and length, plays with good pace, and is an excellent shooter. He has good body control around the rim and thrives on playing downhill and using his size and physicality to get to the bucket and the free throw line.

Another big, physical scoring wing in the 2023 class, Gallagher really took off in the second half of last year after leading scorer Mason White Mason White 6'0" | SG Beckman Catholic | 2021 State IA got hurt. He has the ability to score from all three levels, is a willing passer and can be a versatile defender. As he continues to improve his ball-handling and quickness, he’ll turn into an absolute force on the offensive end, as he already has the size and silky stroke that makes him difficult to defend.

A 5-10 off-ball guard, Patterson does a really good job moving without the ball in his hands, finding spaces in the defense to get his shot off. He’s a good shooter with a quick release and extended range. A capable ball-handler and decision-maker, that’s still an area that could stand to improve, but his ability to play without the ball in his hands is a major plus.

Petersen grew a few inches and really started to mature both physically and as a ball-handler this year. He looked much more comfortable and confident against pressure defenses than he did as a freshman, and that was a huge boost to his assist and turnover numbers. He’s a good perimeter shooter who can shoot it equally effectively off the dribble or the catch.
