This past season, we saw a lot of quality players step up in the class of 2023 and their two remaining seasons of prep basketball will be a true measuring stick for how this group grows and progresses during the off-seasons. Continue reading for a look at a couple of underrated players from the class of 2023 in the state of Idaho.
Braeden Blackmore Braeden Blackmore 6'2" | SG Bonners Ferry | 2023 State ID , Bonners Ferry: Braeden will be a tough matchup for many teams to guard in the next two prep season fora variety of reasons. Braeden can score inside and out and plays a physical brand of basketball that allows him to get to the rim with ease. Blackmore also has a great looking jumper from outside and he knocks down the three point shot consistently. Blackmore crashes the offensive and defensive glass hard and he is already averaging a double-double for his career heading into his junior year.
Vander Brown Vander Brown 5'10" | PG Lakeside | 2023 State ID , Lakeside: Brown has slowly been making a name for himself at Lakeside as he has played a complimentary role to their star players in years past. However, this next season will push Vander into a leading role and he will be the source of a lot of offensive output and defensive energy. Brown has proven his ability to score at all three levels and he thrives on the defensive end as he applies full-court pressure and is constantly finding ways to force turnovers and grab steals.
Steven Burgess Steven Burgess 5'11" | PG Coeur d'Alene | 2023 State ID , Genesis Prep: Burgess has a been a mainstay in the Genesis Prep lineup since his freshmen campaign. Steven is a great player who finds a lot of ways to help his teammates including dishing out lots of assists, grabbing rebounds on both ends of the floor, and constantly guarding the opposing teams’ most difficult matchups. Along with this, Steven can score on anyone and he has already shown glimpses of his ability to get hot against the best defenders. Watch for Burgess to be a tough cover in the next two prep seasons.
