While a lot of these players are still waiting to finally have their time to shine on the court, some have already cemented their starting roles or become big contributors for their teams. Continue reading for a look at some of the most underrated players from the class of 2023 in the state of Idaho.
Varick Meredith Varick Meredith 6'2" | SF Lake City | 2023 State ID , Lake City: Meredith is part of a deadly squad of 2023 players from Lake City that lost in the state championship this year. As most of the team returns for another run at the state title, Meredith will be a key part of the offensive attack. He can score from anywhere on the court and he meshes well with all of his teammates on the court. As a wing, Varick rebounds really well and he also has the ability to do a lot of the little things to make Lake City a deadly ball club.
Ryan Willoughby Ryan Willoughby 6'4" | SF Borah | 2023 State ID , Borah: At 6’5″, Ryan has great size for his age and he is a key part of the basketball program at Borah. Willoughby is a tough rebounder who chases every loose ball and makes great reads as the ball bounces off of the iron. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and has great touch in the paint. From outside, Ryan is a shooting threat who can handle the ball well enough to play either a wing or post position, depending on how his defender guards him.
Jake Anderson, Timberline: Jake has already grown to 6’2″ and he will look to use his size and strength on the court in upcoming seasons. Anderson is a threat from inside and outside for Timberline and he has a great skill set across the board. He can shoot, pass, and dribble like a veteran player and he will be welcoming an expanded role in the upcoming season. Watch for Anderson to have a breakout season on both ends of the floor as he becomes a leader for Timberline.
