The following is a group of prospects that could make the biggest leap from now until the next rollout. Much off this will be based on their workouts and circuit play over the course of the summer.
Let’s look into my observations…
Kaleb Walters – Miramar (PH. 54)
I am looking for Walters to take a big jump at his new home with Miramar. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard took a season away from the high school court after playing for Westminster Academy. I think it could be a situation where “remember me” elevates him into a top prospect. Walters is a great athlete with a high step when he looks to attack the basket. His apex will get him above the rim and finish with authority. He can use his mobility to run in transition and get ahead of a defense. Walters’ length out of the backcourt gives him a huge advantage on the boards. He is an offensive asset in the mid-range and from the perimeter. He has been offered by Bradley and Texas Southern.
Kolby King Kolby King 6'2" | PG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL – Pembroke Pines Charter (PH. 53)
King has been ruling court playing for Team Breakdown. The 6-foot-2 point guard is a great on-ball defender with an edge. King can dice you with his shot from the perimeter and has a smooth jumper. He averaged 16.1 points for the Jaguars en route to the Class 5A state championship. King scored 27 points on 9-of-13 from the floor in the state title game against Choctawhatchee. He has reportedly heard from Georgia, Florida State and Virginia Tech. I have been a fan of his since his days at Blanche Ely. King can rebound and plays with a high motor. Look for him to make a big jump in our next rollout.
Cameron Johnson Cameron Johnson 6'5" | SF Norland | 2022 State FL – Miami Norland
I think Johnson is a little underrated playing alongside 2024 Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'4" | SF West Orange | 2021 State FL . It could be a situation where Allen’s college attention helps him get looks. The 6-foot-5 small forward/wing 15.1 points and 5.1 rebounds on 57 percent shooting from the floor. Moreover, he scored 20 or more points in six games. Johnson is highly athletic and can score in transition. He is very efficient as an offensive scorer and shouldn’t be overlooked. Johnson helped the Vikings to a 19-9 record under head coach Lawton Williams.
Kuran Bryant Kuran Bryant 6'5" | PF Coral Gables | 2022 State FL – Coral Gables (PH. 60)
All Bryant did was put up insane numbers for Coral Gables. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 20.7 points and 17.5 rebounds per game. Granted, those are figures that would make anyone think twice. I could attest that I have seen Bryant play and recognize his game. He is very stout as a defender and strong for his age. This leads to an active prospect on the glass with a capability of blocking a high volume of shots. Bryant and Romulo Delgado–Gonzal (15.7 ppg) could be the best senior tandem in Miami-Dade County.
Matthew Cadogan Matthew Cadogan 6'5" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL – St. Thomas Aquinas
Cadogan has a ton of skill and a good frame for a backcourt prospect. Moreover, I think he plugs in as your traditional wing/small forward in certain sets. He is still developing his body and will get stronger to handle multiple roles. The 6-foot-5 Cadogan averaged 14.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and two steals per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor. He scored 30 points in two games and shot 20-of-32 from the floor. Cadogan also grabbed five or more rebounds in nine games. I think his overall athleticism will continue to improve over the summer. You can check out his junior season highlights by clicking here.
