Continue ReadingThe parade of elite level prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) who are transferring high schools this off-season is starting early this year. In the last week several exceptionally talented area prospects have announced they will be changing schools this summer.
Among those highlighted in our first list of transfers for 2021 is a 4-star, former All-State player with multiple D-I offers.
Quadir Copeland – 6’6” / Junior / IMG Academy (FL) / Point Guard: The Pennsylvania native and former Gettysburg HS (PA) standout played at Life Center Academy (NJ) this past wintet. He is now moving on to basketball juggernaut IMG Academy. As a former 1st Team PIAA Class 5A All-State selection and a Top 100 nationally ranked player, Copeland possess all of the traits of an elite point guard – high basketball IQ, great handles, excellent court vision, passing skills, etc. What separates Copeland from the other nationally ranked lead guards is that he can score the ball at will (17 ppg.) and his size, which makes him a force on the boards (9 rpg.). Recently at the CBG East Coast Elite 24 runs, Copeland posted 8.5 apg. as well as 5.5 rpg. and was selected as one of the standout players of the event. He holds offers from Maryland, Miami, Syracuse, Saint Joe’s, Penn State and others.
Trey O’Neil Trey O’Neil 6'1" | CG Hill School | 2024 PA – 6’0’’ / Hill School / Freshman / Combo Guard: O’Neil is departing national basketball powerhouse Westtown and taking his talents to Pottstown, PA where he will attend The Hill School and move back to the class of 2024. O’Neil is a combo guard whose ability to blow by opponents and create scoring opportunities for himself or teammates is special. O’Neil has displayed a high basketball IQ and filthy dribbling skills. That combination allows him to operate as a one man press break. He possess solid shooting mechanics so he can knock down threes, mid-range jumpers and floaters. Finally, O’Neil displays good court awareness and a willingness to make the extra pass.
Fazl Oshodi – 6’2’’/ Friends Central / Freshman / Combo Guard: This former Roman Catholic varsity player will transfer to Friends Central and will reclass into the 2024s. The Phoenix are getting a consistent perimeter shot maker who can also kill opponents with his speed and quickness in transition. When he gets out on the fast break, Oshodi is an absolute blur. Oshodi’s change of direction abilities are next level. His jump shot showed significant improvement as this past high school season moved along. Lastly, Oshodi exudes a tough, aggressive vibe that really standouts when he is the on-ball defender. On the grassroots circuit Oshodi runs with Philly Pride 15U Nationals and you will be hearing his name a good deal between now and the end of July.
Christian Tomasco Christian Tomasco 6'9" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2021 State PA – 6’10” / IMG Academy (FL) / Post Graduate / Power Forward: Tomasco’s breakout started during Fall 2020 at the Difference Maker Elite Open Runs (NJ). Then this winter playing for Archbishop Ryan he imposed his will on the Philadelphia Catholic League. Next Tomasco is headed for the national stage and IMG Academy. College coaches will not find many 6’10” kids who can shoot threes, run the floor, catch alley-oops and block shots. Tomasco (13 ppg. & 7.5 rpg.) is extremely athletic for a kids his size and glides on the basketball court. He possess a super smooth face up game where he can score with J or blow by a defender for a slam (61% on FGAs). When opponents went zone against AR, they simply threw an alley-oop over the top to the sure handed Tomasco for the flush. He is a legit shot blocker (3.2 bpg.) and was the 3rd leading rebounder in PCL. Tomasco posted numerous outstanding games this winter, but two really standout – in the 5A state semis victory he recorded 26 points (12-13 FGAs); 6 rebounds and 6 blocks. Tomasco also notched 24 points 12 boards in a regular season win vs St. Joe’s Prep.
Jeb Williams – 6’3’’/ Lawrenceville School (NJ) / Junior / Wing: A long and athletic wing who was a projected starter for next year, the loss of Williams will be a tough blow for the Radnor HS (PA) program. Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic and then an early injury, the 2020-21 season got off to a delayed start for Williams. However once on the court, Williams proved to be a prospect with great upside who can shoot the 3-ball, score in the mid-range and finish in close. At the other end, Williams is good at weak-side shot blocking as well as grabbing a defensive rebound and triggering the fast break with a pinpoint outlet pass. All of these skills are complimented by his high basketball IQ. We expect Williams (East Coast Power AAU) to have an impressive spring/summer and that he will be an excellent addition for the Big Red hoops program.
