We will check out some of the guard guards from the Kansas side we would love to see go toe to toe with guards from the Missouri side. With COVID precautions taking affect with the playing of the game, some of these matchups will just have to stay as a wish.
Alston Mason Alston Mason 6'2" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS (BVNW) vs. Jaden Monday Jaden Monday 6'0" | PG Van Horn | 2021 State MO (Van Horn) (Pictured)
Talk about an explosive matchup in the back court, both Mason and Monday are tremendous point guards who put on a clinic of explosive ball handling, change of pace, and a vast scoring arsenal from multiple levels. The intangibles both guards posses with their competitive nature and leadership skills would make this a point guard matchup for the ages. Maybe in the future if we get an Oklahoma vs. Washburn exhibition, these two electric point guards can clash on the hardwood. Monday averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals this season while Mason averaged 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists this season for two highly successful schools.
Brooks Langrehr (Harrisonville) vs. Isaac Patterson Isaac Patterson 6'6" | PF Overland Park | 2021 State KS (BVN)
Perimeter wing play is the focus here, with both Langrehr and Patterson being long, athletic, and versatile wings that brought a ton to the table for their high schools and will continue to do that on the college level. Both guys are extremely active defenders, are great in transition, rebound at a high rate, and solid shooters from distance. The two talented wings have both won a ton of ball games in their high school careers, and it would be a pleasure to see them go at it.
Najee Williams Najee Williams 6'3" | SG Truman | 2021 State MO (Truman) vs. Nate Johnson Jr (Washington)
Explosive, athletic, and transition killers at the guard spot, Williams and Johnson would put on an athletic spectacle with the ball in this All Star game setting. Both guys are deliberate with their handle, can blow by guys on the drive, and make head turning plays above the rim. Johnson has also a smoothness about his game and has a real solid change of pace with the ball and Williams is a go go go type of guy who is tough to keep from his spots on the floor. Williams can also do a ton of damage running the wings.
Connor Arment Connor Arment 5'10" | PG Barstow | 2021 State MO (Barstow) vs. Harrison Braudis Harrison Braudis 6'1" | PG Stillwell | 2021 State KS (Miege)
Arment the recent Central Missouri signee and Braudis the future Minnesota State guard, may get to do battle at the DII scene in the coming years, but getting that matchup early could be a ton of fun. Both guys have won a ton of games both at the grassroots level and high school stage and possess a ton of the winning intangibles and the winning mindset that really set them apart from the pack. Braudis is more of the physical and athletic guard and Arment is a lethal deep shooter with a quick burst, their somewhat clash of styles would be a ton of fun.
