Continue ReadingShooting threes is the name of the game in today’s brand of basketball and around the state, there are still a number of good outside shooters that are still unsigned. Here’s a look at the top available senior snipers that are evaluating their college options.
Nic Boyd Nic Boyd 6'0" | PG La Salle Prep | 2021 State OR , La Salle
Boyd is more of a scorer and distributor than necessarily a shooter, but the 6-foot-1 point guard does have a very nice touch from deep. He can catch and shoot as well as pull up with range, and last season he shot the three at a 40 percent clip. Boyd continues to field recruiting interest from a number of different levels.
James Lang James Lang 6'0" | CG Jesuit | 2021 State OR , Jesuit
Lang can catch and shoot from practically anywhere on the court. At 6-foot-1, he moves well without the ball to open spaces within the Jesuit system and can also create a bit off the dribble. Last season he shot 39 percent from three and 46 percent overall.
Asher Krauel Asher Krauel 6'1" | CG Sherwood | 2021 State OR , Sherwood
Krauel has a very nice looking stroke and has been working on improving the quickness of his release. He’s strong enough to drive and score on floaters as well. He’s currently evaluating track and basketball opportunities; we caught up with him recently and will post an update soon.
Edy Essien Edy Essien 5'10" | CG Century | 2021 State OR , Century
Essien saw a little dip in his three-point percentage from his sophomore season (35 percent from 42 percent) but he’s still one of the top marksmen in the state. The 5-foot-10 senior, who led Century in scoring last season, should be primed for another big year beyond the arc.
Caden Davis Caden Davis 6'0" | CG Sherwood | 2021 State OR , Sherwood
Davis has perhaps the quickest release in the state and has deep range well past the NBA three-point line stripe. The 6-foot senior sank almost three treys a game last season could be a threat to lead 6A this year. Davis could be close to a college decision; we caught up with him recently and will post an update soon.
Ben Morehouse Ben Morehouse 6'4" | SF Marist | 2021 State OR , Marist
At 6-foot-4 and well-built physically, Morehouse adds size to a nice perimeter touch. The senior can really knock down catch and shoot jumpers from the wing and shot it at a 36.5 percent clip from beyond the arc last season.
Eli Mesulam Eli Mesulam 5'10" | PG Cleveland | 2021 State OR , Cleveland
Mesulam led 6A in three-point shooting percentage last year at over 53 percent and was particularly dangerous from straight away. The 5-foot-10 point guard is shifty off the dribble and has garnered some Division III interest, most notably from Whitworth.
Keallum Colburn Keallum Colburn 6'1" | CG Century | 2021 State OR , Century
Perhaps the most under-the-radar guy on this list, the 6-foot-1 senior can flat out stroke it from deep. The lefty came off the bench last season and hit threes in bunches and did so at a 40 percent clip. He should be primed for an even bigger role this year.
