Hot take: Idaho has some of the best basketball talent in the western United States, but it goes widely unnoticed for a lot of reasons. Many Idaho basketball players have been overlooked or disrespected simply because of the place they call home. In this article, I will showcase a couple of seniors who had great seasons and may still be looking for a place to play in the spring. Keep reading for a look at a couple of underrated gems from the state of Idaho.
Joe Schulkins Joe Schulkins 5'11" | PG Columbia | 2021 State ID , Columbia: Joe had a great senior year for Columbia where he was an offensive leader and an overall high level talent for the Wildcats. Joe has silky handles that he uses to break down a defender on his way to the basket or for a drive and dish to the outside shooter. He is also a great shot from outside and he can make defenders pay for disrespecting his shot. Schulkins has the makings of a great point guard and can contribute at a high level.
Nick Liebich Nick Liebich 6'7" | C Riverstone | 2021 State ID , Riverstone International: At 6’7″, Nick is easy to spot in a gym and his ability to play the game of basketball is quite impressive as well. Nick has great post moves and footwork in the paint. He is patient and reacts to the defenders moves in order to find ways to be a methodical scorer. He also can extend his range and knock down a mid-range jumper or step back to the three-point line on a pick and pop. Liebich is also a strong rim protector with the ability to make offensive shots difficult.
Carson Seay Carson Seay 6'1" | SG Lakeland | 2021 State ID , Lakeland: Up north, Carson had a productive senior year and helped lead Lakeland throughout the season. Seay is a solid shooting guard who can do a little bit of everything. He has a great shot and he shoots with confidence against defenders of all sizes and abilities. He is also a solid defender who uses lateral quickness and great reaction times to allow himself to create havoc for the offensive players.
