This series of articles will include notes on how a number of these players performed as well as their current recruiting situations.
We’ll start with the point guard position.
Trae English Trae English 5'11" | PG Baltimore Poly | 2021 State MD | 5’11 | Poly
English has taken advantage of any stage that he could’ve this winter considering the Maryland Public Schools did not have a season. The 5-foot-11 point guard was the floor general for a Team Thrill 17u squad that capped the summer off with a big win over Team Takeover to finish undefeated in the most unique summer we’ve experience thanks to COVID. English took the court once again and caused havoc on the defensive end guarding the ball. Offensively he continues to show growth with his jumper and is capable of knocking down three’s both off the catch or off the dribble with regularity. English is a blur with the basketball in the open floor or in pick-and-roll scenarios and he did just that throughout the two games played. English is a threat in the paint both as a scorer or distributor. He currently holds one offer from Gannon.
Tevin Curtis Tevin Curtis 5'9" | PG St. Frances | 2021 State MD | 5’9 | St. Frances
Curtis was on fire Sunday especially in the first game where he converted on six triples on his way to 20 points. The 5-foot-9 guard can play on or off the ball and is featured more off the ball during games with St. Frances, but it was a pleasure seeing him make plays consistently off the bounce in this showcase setting. Curtis has been a steady producer for the Panthers off the bench and without a doubt could contribute at the next level. Curtis remained unsigned, and in my opinion, underrecruited at this point.
Karell Booker | 5’8 | City
Booker has had quite an interesting high school career, but there’s no doubting that he has some translatable skills to the college level. The 5-foot-8 guard is very shifty with the ball and showcases good vision and feel as a playmaker. He routinely converted tough finishes around the basket while embracing contact in the air.
Christian Moore | 6’0 | Cape Henry Collegiate
Over his years of playing with Team Thrill Moore has built the reputation in the Baltimore area for being a dynamic scoring guard. The 6-foot combo guard can quickly explode from beyond the arc and do so operating off the dribble or on the catch. Once he demands his defender’s respect from well beyond the three-point line, he uses his quick first step to get into the paint for floaters or pull ups. Moore remains unsigned and could be a major weapon for a college program as a scoring guard coming off the bench as a freshman.
Kaden Roley | 5’10 | Quakerstown Community High School
Roley was a new face on Sunday who showed some potential as a Division III prospect. He was quick to get out in the open floor and lead his team to transition buckets. Roley had some quickness to him and was creative in his ways of getting the ball to others once he forced the defense to commit to him on drives.
