Continue ReadingByron 6-foot-9 junior forward Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN had a huge 2020 summer leading to a national ranking by various services. Lee’s stock just lifted even more this week with his latest offer.
The Offer – Ahjany was offered by Kansas assistant coach Norn Roberts. The Kansas offer joins offers from Minnesota, Iowa, Florida, and St. Thomas.
The Player – Lee is scoring 12 points with about ten boards and three blocks a game for the 14-2 Byron Bears. Lee is a 6-foot-9 forward who is ranked 5th in his class and when the National Prep Hoops rankings are rebooted in the next week Lee will be a nationally ranked top 125 area player. Lee had an outstanding 17u summer playing with the D1 Minnesota Prospects earning All Minnesota PH Circuit 2nd Team All-State at 17u level and third team 17U All State last summer. Ahjany was one of four Minnesota 2022 talents that earned 17U all state last summer.
The Ability – Lee is a versatile 6-foot-9 player that made his first impression hard cutting to the rim for high percentage finishes as well as scoring on put-backs. Throw in the shot contesting/shot blocking in a long, agile frame and you had a guy that quickly grabbed our attention. As time has went on Lee has showed a work ethic and tenacity as a basketball player that makes him even more intriguing to college programs. His perimeter touch and dribble separation abilities as a four make him more versatile but Ahjany is at his very best doing the workman things as a forward. When he rebounds with attitude, moves his feet to contest shots, and moves to the rim off the ball he’s almost impossible to limit. Throw in some occasional perimeter touches and you have a top prospect.
Check the videos of Ahjany below and you will see the rare ability he has.
The Support
Jake Braaten (Senior Guard) – Jake is the Byron point guard and he’s having a strong year scoring 21 points a game while defending the other team’s toughest guard and leading the team in assists. Braaten is a top 50 level player in the state when it comes to seniors.
Isaac Dearborn Isaac Dearborn 6'0" | PG Byron | 2023 State MN / Easton Hulke Easton Hulke 6'2" | SG Byron | 2021 State MN / Trent DeCook Trent DeCook 6'2" | SG Byron | 2022 State MN – Three more guys. Yes. The Byron balance is the biggest reason they are 14-2. It’s a tough of tough, agile, strong players that provide depth. Braaten is the point guard and Lee the big meaning they have the inside-out combo that are crucial. But the meat of the squad is guys like Dearborn, Hulk, and DeCook, guys that score four times a game and play their roles.
