The #MNStateHoops21 State Tournament First Round Games

So the field is set.  Who is playing who? Have a look as we get ready for the #MNStateHoops21 State Tournament.   Class AAAA SOUTH: 1. Shakopee  2. Cretin-Derham Hall  3. Rosemount  4. Owatonna NORTH: 1. Champlin Park  2. Wayzata  3. Duluth East  4. Maple Grove   Champlin Park vs. Maple Grove Wayzata vs. Duluth East   Shakopee vs. Owatonna Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Rosemount   ***Note - I misread this at first.  So there are crossovers for the semi-final round games. For example if the high seeds win, it would be Champlin Park vs CDH, and Wayzata versus Shakopee.  So looking at these seeds, I think CDH should of been above Shakopee but that was pretty close.  Looks pretty fair.    Class AAA SOUTH: 1. Minnehaha Academy  2. Mankato West  3. Richfield  4. Byron NORTH: 1. Alexandria  2. DeLaSalle  3. Hibbing  4. Monticello   Alexandria vs. Monticello De La Salle vs.Hibbing   Minnehaha Academy vs Byron Mankato West vs. Richfield   ***Note - the favorite in the event is Minnehaha Academy and they clearly got the tougher group.  Alexandria got a one seed and while they are playing great basketball (got to watch the second half of them smashing Sauk Rapids and Apollo, they look really good) I would have given them a three seed in the North and would have to go back and forth if they would get the 5 seed in a normal year (Byron would be the other in that discussion).  Richfield would have been my 2nd or 3rd seed overall in a normal year and they are the three seed in the South.    Class AA SOUTH: 1. Waseca  2. Caledonia  3. St Croix Prep  4. Morris Area   NORTH: 1. Minneapolis North  2. Annandale  3. Fergus Falls  4. Moose Lake-Willow River     Minneapolis North vs. Moose Lake-Willow River   Annandale vs. Fergus Falls     Caledonia vs. St Croix Prep   Waseca vs. Morris Area     ***Note:  It's good see Minneapolis North vs Waseca separated.  If they can each win two games it would give the state one of the most anticipated games of the year.   These seeds all look good.      Class A SOUTH 1. Legacy Christian  2. Central MN Christian  3. Sleepy Eye St Mary's  4. Hayfield NORTH 1. Nevis  2. Deer River  3. Badger/Greenbush-Middle River  4. Hancock   Nevis vs Hancock Deer River vs. Badger/Greenbush-Middle River   Central Minnesota Christian vs. Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Legacy Christian Academy vs. Hayfield   ****Note: Class A has been wide open all year, as wide open as any division in Minnesota high school basketball since I've started watching it as a reporter. No problems at all with any of this.  Surely separated the state on area and the match-ups are solid.
