Cason Richardson Cason Richardson 6'2" | CG Hesston | 2022 State KS , junior, Hesston:
Richardson was the star of the night. The 6-foot-1 guard was third-team 3A a year ago, and will be in line for some top honors this year. He hit just 5-13 from the field in the final game, got to the line 9 times and led Hesston with 16 points. But he showed his toughness and leadership. After scoring just four points in an incredibly lost scoring first half (Hesston led 13-11), he scored 12 points in the second half when the Swathers pulled away. Who can forget the 36 he scored against TMP in the semis, shooting 12-18 from the field.
Brayden Schilling Brayden Schilling 6'5" | SF Hesston | 2022 State KS , junior, Hesston:
Like Richardson, Schilling will be back for another run next year. The 6-foot-5 big man was efficient in the final with 4-8 shooting, to go with his team-leading 7 rebounds. Schilling received 3A honorable mention last year, and is an agile and active big who is crucial to the Swathers on defense and on the boards.
Nick Arnold, junior, Hesston:
Another junior who will be back next year, the 6-2 contributed 8 points on 4-6 shooting in the final game. He was tough on defense in the final game against the talented Galena troops. In the semifinal, Arnold was equally efficient, tossin in 10 against TMP on 4-6 shooting.
Brett Sarwinski Brett Sarwinski 5'10" | PG Galena | 2022 State KS , junior, Galena:
The tough junior had a rough shooting night against Hesston. He hit just 6-18 from the field, but was the only Bulldog in double figures. He finished with 19, more than half the team’s points. He was good against Rock Creek in the semifinal, tallying 12 points and leading the team with 10 boards.
Tyler Little Tyler Little 6'5" | PF Galena | 2023 State KS , sophomore, Galena:
A football star like Sarwinski, the 6-foot-5 Little was a focal point of the Hesston defense. The sophomore had sort of a quiet night, attempting just four shots. He hit three for 6 points in the defensive struggle. The versatile and dynamic athlete is normally a real handful in the midrange and on the glass. Against Rock Creek, he hit 7-10 shots for 16 points.
