The Philadelphia Catholic League semi-final games were played this past Saturday with Roman Catholic going head to head with Devon Prep, and Archbishop Wood squaring off against Archbishop Ryan. Here are some of the top players from the Roman Catholic v. Devon Prep game:
Roman Catholic
Daniel Skillings Daniel Skillings 6'5" | SG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA – SG / Jr. – 6’6″ – an athletic guard who used his height to dominate an undersized Devon Prep team. He helped Roman establish a low post presence early in the game, using his wing span and skillset to force the Devon Prep defense to adjust their 3-2 zone early and often. He finished with 15 points, 12 of which in the first half.
Xzayvier Brown – PG / So. – 6’1″ – Xzayvier continues to impress with his ability to finish in traffic at the rim. His aggressive on ball defense, patience on offense, and overall decision making throughout the game really gave Roman the advantage they needed. Xzayvier sealed the win late in the 4th quarter for Roman Catholic by stepping to the foul line with :07 remaining in the game and calmly knocked down both foul shots on a 1+1, putting Roman ahead for good. He finished with 14 points.
Devon Prep
Ty Mishock Ty Mishock 5'10" | PG Spring Ford | 2024 PA – PG / Fr. – 5’10″ – a high IQ player who plays with pose. He doesn’t get sped up and ran the DP offense efficiently enough to hang in the game. A shifty ball handler who knocked down open shots. A throwback player for sure. Going to enjoy watching his development over the next three years.
Roman Catholic takes on Archbishop Wood in the Philadelphia Catholic Championship this Monday, putting the #1 and #2 seeds against each other for the PCL title (Wood defeated Ryan 77-47).
