In all reality it’s hard to tell, but we think that the school a player ends up attending will define how early we get to look at their talent level.
It’s no secret that the best players from Utah find themselves playing in the Youngblood League and we were able to watch these kids there and at different events. With that here are a few prospects that stood out. The future is bright for the Class of 2025.
Drezdon Jensen Drezdon Jensen 6'4" | CG Viewmont | 2025 State UT – Athletic player that defends the ball. He is not afraid of contact. He can score inside and out.
Donovan Averitte Donovan Averitte 6'4" | CG Bingham | 2025 CA-S – While Donovan is a hold back it doesn’t take away from his talent. He can score and he is more mature physically and basketball IQ as well. Look for him to make an impact once he lands at the high school of his choice.
Chamberlain Burgess Chamberlain Burgess 6'9" | PF Lone Peak | 2025 State #214 Nation UT – Talk about a kid with potential. He is seldom used on his current team but he will be a player that will need to touch the ball often as he is currently 6’4 and will likely be 6’7 in no time. When he gets his arms extended there aren’t many players that contest his shots.
Jason Peterson Jason Peterson 6'4" | CG Bingham | 2025 State UT – One of the readiest players to play at the next level 8th graders out there. He is an ideal 3 and with a 6’2 frame and with some strength he is a force. He is elite going to the basket and you can see that he has a motor already.
Ryker Mikkelsen Ryker Mikkelsen 6'3" | CG Orem Tigers | 2025 State UT – Ryker is a big strong kid at around 6’2 that can defend multiple positions at his age. In high school he will be an off guard and with an improved outside jumper he will be a future player to keep an eye on.
Carter Nielsen – This kid is a stud. He can handle the ball with pressure all over the floor. His IQ is beyond his years. What makes him even more dangerous is that he is probably the best shooter in his class. He will pull-up on a fast-break and drill a dagger from deep. He gets to the rim and he moves well without the ball. Impressed with his ability to relocate as well.
Trey Hiatt Trey Hiatt 6'6" | PF Orem | 2025 State UT – Big body that is tough to stop down on the blocks. he is strong and he is out there setting great screens and trying to pull down every rebound.
John Southwick John Southwick 6'3" | SG Utah Prep | 2025 State #234 Nation UT – Is another player that does a lot of good things out on the floor. Titan is a Swiss Army Knife already. Does a lot of good things on both ends of the floor. Titan has one of the best motors in his class, he is a go, go, go type of player.
