There are several different lists and All-State teams published by a variety of different sources. So, I decided to put together an All-Defense team for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Here are my selections:
Guard
Cason Wallace Cason Wallace 6'4" | CG Richardson | 2022 State #6 Nation TX | 2022 | 6’4’’ Combo Guard | Richardson HS – Wallace flew up the 2022 rankings due in large part to his defensive ability, and while his offensive production was fantastic during his junior campaign, his defense did not suffer as a result. He was locked in and ready to guard the opponents’ best player every night. He defends with urgency and can matchup with ones, twos, and threes without an issue.
Guard
Kyle Moran | 2022 | 6’0’’ Shooting Guard | Lake Highlands HS – Defense is all about hustle, and that part of Moran’s game is never in question. He plays with intensity whenever he is on the floor, using his high motor to be a pest on D. The junior guard was willing to do whatever it took in order to keep his opponents at bay. He scraps and claws for every inch, has quick hands, and dives for loose balls.
Guard
Will Curtis | 2022 | 6’4’’ Shooting Guard | Lewisville HS – Curtis is a technician on the defensive end. The junior two-guard moves his feet and possesses great lateral quickness. He keeps opposing ball handlers in front of him and is a nightmare do go up against on the perimeter. His off-ball defense is terrific as well. He was so good at running shooters off the three-point line and denying them the ball.
Forward
Logan Epes Logan Epes 6'3" | SG Bishop Lynch | 2022 TX | 2022 | 6’3’’ Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Bishop Lynch HS – Epes is an effortless defender. He is super disciplined both on and away from the ball. The 2022 prospect rarely lets opposing players bait him with fakes and consistently sticks to his man. He showed good strength and technique while guarding numerous positions in his junior season, always finding a way to get the job done on defense.
Forward
Kyron Henderson Kyron Henderson 6'6" | PF Dallas Kimball | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 6’7’’ Power Forward | Dallas Kimball HS – Henderson refuses to be outworked in the paint. He challenges shots and knows how to time his leaps in order to turn them back. The junior forward plays with a lot of energy and is great at using his length to be disruptive. Furthermore, he completes defensive trips by rebounding with ferocity.
