With that being said, I still like to classify players based on their size and skill set and I think the forward position will stand the test of time. Every team needs a solid big who can bang in the post or spread the floor and play on the perimeter. Idaho is home to a lot of great post players and there must be something in the potatoes that allows these players to thrive in this landscape. Continue reading for a look at a few of the top forwards from the state of Idaho.
Charlie DeBoer Charlie DeBoer 6'6" | PF Riverstone | 2021 State ID , Riverstone International: DeBoer showed his ability to play at a high level this season and he has a lot of skills and abilities that are in line with the forward position. He loves to be physical in the paint and uses his body well to maneuver his way to the basket. Charlie can also step back and hit the mid-range jumper when needed. He sets great screens and does an excellent job of controlling the paint on defense. Look for Charlie to make a big impact at the next level.
Lukas Broadsword Lukas Broadsword 6'6" | PF Centennial | 2021 State ID , Centennial: Shoutout to Lukas at my alma mater for being a bright spot for the Patriots this season. Lukas has great coordination and patience in the post and he can score around the rim with either hand. He is working on improving his mid-range and three-point jumper and needs another summer in the gym to earn the “pick-and-pop” badge. Lukas is a rim protector on the defensive end and will make a great forward at the next level. One of his biggest areas that needs work is his dunking ability…snap the wrist young fella.
Jaylen Alexander Jaylen Alexander 6'7" | PF Columbia | 2021 State ID , Columbia: Jaylen is a great player, so long as he stays out of foul trouble. He is ridiculously athletic and can score at all levels. His jumper is smooth and he shoots with confidence and he can also dunk on anyone at the rim or finish with finesse at the rim. Jaylen will be a great player and can play at an extremely high level once he learns to control his body on offense and defense. Look for Jaylen to make a big impact at the net level in the upcoming seasons.
