But for the schools that have been given the green light to resume play, here’s a quick look at some of the players on those teams to keep an eye out for.
1. RJ Smith RJ Smith 6'4" | CG Damien | 2022 State CA-S – Damien 2022
Smith started to make a name for himself during the fall at the Hoops 2.0 Showcase events. Over the summer, he picked up an offer from Pepperdine and he’s only done well since then to improve his stock. He pushes the ball well in transition and he can go coast to coast and finish strong at the rim. He’s comfortable with the ball in his hands and he can shoot well from both midrange and the three-point line. He can break down defenses off the dribble and get to his spots on the floor. A scoring guard who has a little playmaking in his game.
2. Jude Will – Oak Park 2021
Will isn’t a player whose numbers are going to jump out on a stat sheet, but he’s an invaluable part of the Eagles. He’s a good defensive player and in the mold of a solid 3&D type player. He’s a good shooter from the three-point line and can shoot a little off the dribble in the midrange. Runs the floor well in transition either as a ballhandler or without the ball. Good vision on the break, he keeps his head up while dribbling and is a solid passer.
3. Jimmy Oladokun – Damien 2023
Oladokun is a very intriguing frontcourt player with high upside. He’s a versatile defensive player who can stick with wings on the perimeter and drop back into the paint and act as a rim protector. He can play a stretch-four role with his ability to step out and shoot midrange jumpers. He plays with a high motor and is very active around the rim as well. Crashes the glass well and finishes strong at the rim.
4. Luke Jacobsen – Glendora 2022
Jacobsen is a stretch big with a versatile skill-set. He’s very good in the open court; he sprints out ahead of the defense and can finish on the break. He can also handle the ball a bit in transition and he can see the floor well, he’s very unselfish and looks for his teammates. Shoots well from the three-point line. Spots up well is a good catch and shoot player who moves well off ball. Good shooter in transition.
