But first, district play matchups which kicked off Friday night with the play-in games in Class A districts 1-3, and culminating with all of the Class A District final matchups taking place on Monday night March 1st. I will preview players to watch across all seven Class A districts. Let’s continue with District A6
Kyle Ingwerson Kyle Ingwerson 6'6" | SF Papillion-LaVista | 2022 State NE – 6’6 Junior Guard/Forward – Papillion La-Vista
Ingwerson has received plenty of interest from some regional mid-major D1 schools thanks to his offensive prowess and efficiency. The 6’6 junior can get going in a hurry from the field. He’s displayed an ability to score both inside and out. He also is a strong rebounder, averaging 4.8 rebounds a game to go along with the 13.9 points a game he averages in the scoring column. Ingwerson is an efficient scorer shooting just under 50% from both the field and from 3 point range.
Pierce Bazil – 6’4 Senior Guard – Lincoln Northeast
Bazil is one of the top unsigned players in the 2021 class, and the Lincoln Northeast point guard deserves much more attention. He’s received some strong interest as well as offers from a few D2 schools as well. One of the top scorers in the state, he is averaging 21.3 points a game for his senior campaign, to go along with 4.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. In Lincoln Northeast’s last game of the regular season, Bazil tallied 16 assists in a road victory for the Rockets over Norfolk. Pierce has multiple facets to his offensive game and has shown plenty of ways to score the basketball. He’ll play an integral part in Northeast’s success this postseason.
Connor Renard Connor Renard 6'7" | C Lincoln Northeast | 2021 State NE – 6’7 Senior Forward – Lincoln Northeast
Renard is a solid and fundamentally sound big man and provides a good inside presence for the Rockets. He’s averaging 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds a game, as well as a block and a half each contest. Renard is very strong inside finishing and is also a reliable anchor to the Rocket defense. In the last game of the regular season, he had 40 points on the road against Norfolk. The duo of Renard and Bazil will certainly be a tough matchup as long as the Rockets stay alive this postseason.
Will Cooper Will Cooper 6'6" | SF Millard South | 2024 State NE – 6’4 Freshman Guard – Millard South
Cooper is another intriguing freshman guard who has shown plenty of flashes of potential. While his stats may not jump off the page with an average of 7 points per game, Cooper has a good-looking shot from beyond the arc where he is shooting 38%. He has multiple double-digit outings this year and has definitely shown some flashes and reason to keep an eye on him over the coming years.
Ater Louis Ater Louis 6'7" | C Bellevue East | 2021 State NE – 6’8 Senior Forward – Bellevue East
Ater Louis Ater Louis 6'7" | C Bellevue East | 2021 State NE is one of the top shot blockers not only in the state of Nebraska but in the country at 4.7 blocked shots per game on average. Louis has great athleticism and is a good finisher around the rim. He’s a strong rebounder as well. Louis provides a strong inside presence for the Chieftans and will have a distinct size advantage inside in their opening-round matchup against Papillion La-Vista.
