As we conclude our playoff preview series in the WPIAL, the Class 1A group tends to be extremely under-rated just due to the fact of being smaller schools. That can’t be further from the truth. Some of the teams have a talented core with balanced scoring and performance, which will look to lead their respective schools far into the tournament.
Scoring Leaders:
Vinni Cugini, Aquinas Academy
6’2 Point Guard, Shooting Guard
– Scores a ton of points every night
6’0 Shooting Guard
– The son of a coach that puts up points in bunches for his team
6’1 Shooting Guard, Small Forward
– Puts forth the effort needed to score points on a regular basis
5’11 Point Guard, Shooting Guard
– He looks to penetrate the lane and can knock down mid-range shots
6’1 Shooting Guard, Small Forward
– A complete scorer from many positions on the court
Gabe Lis, Avella High School
6’0 Shooting Guard
– Has exceptional free throw shooting and a quality perimeter player
Lance Nicholls, Winchester Thurston
6’1 Point Guard, Shooting Guard
– Consistent player who looks to score at any time during the competition
