It’s been a difficult season, one that included the cancelation of the high school season, tons of players coming and going, and an overall lack of playing opportunities. Despite that and thanks to yeomen efforts from coaches, I’ve been fortunate to see a ton of players and learn some new names. The class features a surprising number of talented forwards. In this article, we take a look at the top forwards in the class of 2023.
Osiris Grady Osiris Grady 6'7" | PF Coronado | 2023 #195 Nation UT 6’7 PF Coronado #2 – The top forward in his class, Grady has enough ball skills to now be called a skilled 4. He can put it down a little but is at his best using his athleticism in transition. He is also one of the top RIm Protectors in his class.
Sterling Knox 6’5 SF Durango #3 – Knox is a versatile, positionless forward. He falls into the good at every, elite as some category. Knox is a big-time knock-down shooter and rebounder. The 6’5 forward can also snag the ball off the glass and start the break for his squad.
Keenan Bey Keenan Bey 6'6" | SF Bishop Gorman | 2023 State NV 6’5 SF Bishop Gorman #7 – Bey looks the part. The 6’5 forward used quarantine to work on his body and it has paid off. One of the strongest most physically gifted players in his class, if he reaches his potential he could easily rise up the rankings.
Tommy Brascia Tommy Brascia 6'8" | PF Durango | 2023 State NV 6’7 PF Durango #8 (featured image) – I love guys who play with the energy Brascia brings. A rim runner who plays with reckless abandon, he refuses to be beaten down the floor. He also loves to impact the game with shot-blocking and rim protection.
Evan Tatum Evan Tatum 6'5" | PF Desert Pines | 2023 State NV 6’3 PF Desert Pines #19 – Tatum is one of the top undersized Power forwards in the state. Using his frame to carve out space down low, Tatum is a crafty finisher around the bucket who understands how to take away air space from longer opponents rendering their shot-blocking ability moot.
