It’s been a difficult season, one that included the cancelation of the high school season, tons of players coming and going, and an overall lack of playing opportunities. Despite that and thanks to yeomen efforts from coaches, I’ve been fortunate to see a ton of players and learn some new names. The period between a player’s junior and senior season is extremely crucial and has been made even more so with the events of last year. Several players in this class have a chance to put together big Spring and Summer seasons, putting themselves right back on the recruiting radar. In this article, we take a look at some of the sleepers in the class of 2023.
- Chase Jackson Chase Jackson 6'8" | C Centennial | 2023 State NV 6’7 C Centennial #11 – Not crazy for him to end up as the overall #1 player in this class when it’s all said and done.
- Jake Bevacqua Jake Bevacqua 5'10" | PG The Meadows School | 2023 State NV 5’10 PG The Meadows School #21 – It’s a health issue with him. If he can consistently stay on the floor his skills will take care of everything else.
- Jaquavis Williford Jaquavis Williford 6'6" | SG Western | 2023 CA-S 6’5 SG Western #9 – Lefty could end up being state scoring leader one day.
- Devin Mabry Devin Mabry 6'6" | PF Spring Valley | 2023 State NV 6’3 SF Arbor View #40 – Length and skill make him an intriguing prospect.
- LJ Mercurius LJ Mercurius 6'3" | SF Faith Lutheran | 2023 State NV 6’3 SG The Meadows #34 – Perhaps the best athlete on the list. If this kid hits any kind of growth spurt he instantly goes on people’s radar.
- Keenan Bey Keenan Bey 6'6" | SF Bishop Gorman | 2023 State NV 6’5 SF Bishop Gorman #7 – All the physical tools to end up being a power 5 guy.
- Elijah Burney Elijah Burney 6'1" | PG Centennial | 2023 State NV 5’9 PG Centennial #27 – Has played well in front of me, but I feel like I only get to see him in small doses.
- David Poole David Poole 5'10" | PG Valley | 2023 State NV 5’10 PG Mojave #20 – Had an underrated freshmen season, where he put up good numbers.
- Andrew Overland Andrew Overland 6'7" | PF Cimarron | 2023 NV 6’7 PF Cimmaron #55 – Moves well for a player of his size, good frame, development will be key for him.
- Ifok Peter Ifok Peter 6'6" | C Coronado | 2023 State NV 6’5 C Valley #62 – Completely raw right now, but has the body and size to be a dominating rebounder in high school.
